Beautiful hiking trails and photo moments abound. Nice little stop on the way to Colorado Springs. The park has modern, clean toilets at the parking lot entrance.
We visited on a Thursday afternoon with our 5 year old. The views are spectacular. Lots of variety of trails to hike. You can climb on most rock formations, which was a lot of fun. Scary at times for mom! Could have spent an entire day exploring. I'd bring a sack luck, there are plenty of benches scattered around. The only weird thing was the parking area 9 where you view pikes peak. It turned into a high school hangout with music blasting from cars and lots of smoking. Very odd. Other than that, a must see!
It is so amazing. You really have no excuse to not go here because it is free! There are so many different trails that you can pick and is amazing for families. What makes this place even better is once you are done having your fill on hiking there are plenty of near by places to eat.
First visit today. Great weather. Beautiful scenery. Parking was in various locations but spaces were all taken. Advice: arrive early and park in one location, then walk everywhere you want to go. No toilets, so plan accordingly. If you are a rock climber, you can bring ropes and gear, but you will need a permit to actually climb. The total area is not so large, and it's possible to walk around the whole place in a few hours. Paved or packed earth trails everywhere make it easy to traverse. No need for hiking boots or anything like that. No elevation changes to speak of (gentle sloping hills). Was fun for a couple of hours in the mid-afternoon while on break during a conference in Colorado Springs.
While I was in CO Springs for business, I came here a couple times to get out of the hotel and shoot some photos. They have plenty of walking/hiking trails with one paved for easy walking and handicap. There are plenty of parking lots and pull-offs to check out the sites. The wildlife is sparse but you can see plenty of birds and bunnies. Overall, it is a cool place to get beautiful photos of red-rock formations and stretch your legs. Check out the visitors center for a free map, gift shop and educational center.
This is one place you must visit when in the area. The area has side walks so it is appropriate for any age.
In summer, you mainly see the color red of the rocks, but winter brings a little white which makes the place look more like heaven. We went there on a snowy day (not too snowy though) that not many people came. We spotted some deers and another wild animal (we couldn't see it clearly cuz it was fast). It was very nice!
'We enjoyed the beautiful scenic views and wonderful photo opportunities. Our youngest of 6 kids is only 3 but there was still plenty for us to get around in the trails they had to offer. Must stop at the visitor center to take some gorgeous pics. Make some time to visit the cogs railway that takes you up to Pikes Peak. Make sure to plan your day for Garden of the Gods and Cog Railway since you'll be in the area might as well see both of them.
One of the most breathtaking places I have ever been! There are many beautiful paths and trails here, as well as a visitors center where you can get a meal and visit the gift shop. It is the perfect destination for runners, cyclists, and horseback riding! We went horseback riding with a group and it was fantastic! You won't be disappointed by stopping here, my only regret is I would've spent 2 days exploring instead of one! Next time I visit i'll be sure to rent or bring my bike! A beautiful piece of Colorado!
