If you ever wanted to know more about how the west was homesteader this is a great place to visit. It is jam packed with local information as well as what made this area blossom in the early days. The old homestead out back is particularly eye opening!
I travel all over and love stopping in the small towns and visiting there museum's. This is a gem that sits quitely just off the highway through town. It is impressive how well done it has been at preserving the past for the area. Lots of photographs and stories to go with them. We found information on a town gone in history Cain,WY. The worker helped get us directions on how to find it and we enjoyed our side trip there. Old farm equipment is there and if you can't figure out how it worked just ask. Worth a little time to stop in and see the history for the area.
Very friendly and helpful staff, museum didn't smell old and musty like some do, clean and well organized. Outside displays that you could walk into like the 1945 Caboose, a log cabin and an original two room house.
The Homesteader Museum is a collection of local artifacts from the late 1800's through 1940's. They have an original Reclamation Service Cartop House from 1913. An operating table from 1918 along with many medical devices. Visitors can go into a Caboose for the Great Northern Railroad dating from 1945. Many early farming implements. These are just a few of the displays. There are many. Surprisingly broad based in interests.
