I have visited the Undertow several times. It seems that to visit mid week in the evening is far different from visiting on a weekend. I will give it another weekend try, but not mid week unless I want to feel unattended, neglected, etc. Weekends are really where this place comes alive. It was disappointing that they no longer served food, and that made the "order out/carry-in" dinner feel and taste like lackluster drive through food.

I've been here before and loved it... This past weekend, we went back and it was horrible! There were 4 girls behind the bar and they were more interested in fixing their hair and talking than serving their patrons. We needed smoke signals to get a drink. I'm very disappointed.

It was OK. I wouldn't go out of my way to go there though. We went because it was within walking distance of our condo. We had a hard time getting a bartender's attention to order in the first place and never could get her attention for a refill so we moved on. Not the cleanest of places.

Went there for a long time. Most recent trip I had a waitress whose main worry in life was that that she was leaving work in 20 minutes and that I had to stay near her in order to have a tab. She then proceeded to charge me $6 for a bud light. But this is only the latest example. Used to have the greatest wings... that's gone. Used to have great staff.... Used to have great places to sit... that's gone. Makes you sad to see someone screw up one of the best places on St. Pete Beach.

Great place , friendly bartenders, unique river flowing bar top, a must visit location on St. Pete beach. We visit often and love the place.

If you are looking for bartenders that rush to serve you and really good food don't come here. But the location and set up of this bar make up for it. The outdoor area is perfect with an upstairs balcony to soak up the sun. The bar leads right out to the ocean so you can hang out and go straight into the water. 3 beach volleyball courts as well, but if you want to play family reunion ball you may be asked to leave as it's mostly skilled players going at it. Either way, there is no bar that compares in ST Pete Beach. Parking is pretty bad on the weekends, but worth the pain and suffering.

Visited this bar with two other couples on our annual trip to St. Pete beach. Bartender would not even wait on us cause we weren't single guys looking at her 12 year old little boy figure! She basically told us the bar behind us served beer! We will never return!

I discovered this place when getting some new glasses at Visionworks in Tyronne, when the sales lady there recommended it to me as somewhere different to go on St Pete's Beach (I never knew it existed).It's a chilled out place right by St Pete's Beach and went with friends one weekday lunchtime.We ordered a bucket of Buds and sat beachside.They didn't serve food but you can order food from the place next door which I did on my Cell.The food is standard beachside fayre but very tasty.Less tax, for 4 people, it came to about $50.I can't say we were blown away by the service but in fairness our needs were minimal.I would imagine in peak season it gets pretty crowded.It does have parking (limited) which is useful.Definitely recommend as a "cool" place to go.

We vacation at St Pete Beach every May for the past 7 years and have always wanted to stop in and check this place out. Well, I dont need to go back here! Although we did have a good time playing pool you really have to watch the bartenders. We were short changed twice and by two different girls. Certainly not good for business. There are a ton of better bars on the beach!

Don't go here if you don't like eclectic, funky atmosphere. Old hotel converted into a beach bar. No riff raff here. Bartenders wear cool bathing suits and bar has water running through it! Employees give great service. Kitchen is closed right now but good food can be ordered and delivered from their sister restaurant. Volleyball and fun beach games to pass the time on the beach.

It is a good place to go to prime for the evening, good drink specials pool tables. It would be nice if the had more in the way of entertainment like live music, but basically it is just a bar/lounge.

I live in the area and I have been to the Tow many times. Let me tell you about the last two and final times. You can't run a tab without handing over your credit card. So I pay cash.I bought one beer and gave the barmaid a twenty dollar bill,she threw the change in her tip jar. I asked for my change she said oh you want that back. I said people give you a twenty a single beer and she said Yeah all the time. I got my change and an attitude with it. This happened again about a week later different girl same attitude. I'm done!

The Undertow is awesome. Sits right on the beach. Volleyball out back. Beautiful and sweet bartenders. More craft beers than I can count. Renovated open air pool room. Food delivered from Smileys. Come enjoy a beautiful Gulf sunset at the best beach bar on SPB!

Went here fir the first time this past weekend. Great spot on the beach to sit and enjoy the views with drinks. Only bad thing is no food is served. There is an independent food stand just outside the doors that sells pizza/hotdogs. If you want more than that to eat your out of luck.

The Undertow is one of my favorite places ever! He hung out there on a girl's trip and had a fantastic time.The food is really good. The tuna sandwich and burgers are to die for, and the price is great. Watch out for the birds though. I had some fries sitting on the table and a bird flew down and sat in the basket and stole my fries. Yuck!The outdoor seating is so nice and has a great view. A steel drummer was playing outside when we got there. Ah! There was a mix of ages of people eating and socializing. After the sun went down, we went inside and watched a football game. Their tv's are really big and clear.I would recommend the Undertow to anyone who wants to enjoy great service and beautiful ocean scenery. It is the perfect way to spend an afternoon.
