Bird diversity as well as tree diversity within the park is great. Hard paved trails throughout making walking easy and usually not overcrowded.

This beautiful park contains something for everyone-- short, wooded trails, open fields, meadows, paved walking paths, scenic ponds and more. It's beloved by locals as a place to picnic, play, run and walk. The spirit in which it was designed-- to serve as a place of relaxation and outdoor connection-- is still vibrant today. It is exquisitely maintained by park staff all year around--- many of the paths are plowed even on the snowiest days of winter. They work tirelessly to ensure the park is clean, safe, and pleasing to the eye, with special effort to maintain the property in a way that is true to its original landscape design. I always leave feeling more relaxed and clearheaded. A truly special place.

I grew up here as a child and it had a lot to offer then. But the grounds are still beautiful and the walking trails are great, a little shabby but you can still appreciate the beauty here. It is a shame the swimming pool and bath house are gone, wish they could do something with that. I bring my children here to ride their bikes which is such a nice option than on the streets

This is a beautiful little park in East Walpole where I walk frequently. There are ponds, streams, 2 or 3 miles of walking trails, animals (have seen deer, blue heron, various other birds), mature tress, flowers and many entrances. The nice thing about the park is that it smells wonderful and there are open areas where you can get sun and shaded areas deep within the trees too. There are some nice flowers over on the side where the bird boxes are. I'd love to see more perennial gardens planted as I think it would enhance the park even more. The young kids will have a nice time at the playgrounds that have been upgraded in recent years. Families can enjoy the movies and concerts they have throughout the summer. The park is extremely well-maintained by the Trustees of Reservations. I rarely see trash or litter around and often see someone driving around the grounds on a cart making sure the place is clean and being looked after. The only thing I would not recommend is roller-blading at this park. The stone/concrete paths are not amenable to small wheels. Biking should be ok but this park is mostly walkers /runners. I don't go there in winter but it seems perfect for cross-country skiing.Parking should not be an issue. There are several lots at different points around the park as well as street parking on Washington Street. I park in the adjacent church lot that is shared with the park. I've never had a problem finding a space there. This beautiful gem of a park is a great place to come to relax or enjoy nature.

A beautiful spot and park with lots of flat & semi flat trails to walk your dog, walk by yourself or walk with your kids. It is a real hidden gem. Lots of benches to sit on while you reading a book or kids ride their bikes or if they are under 11, they can play in the playground. Its a great place to bird watch too. Lots of activities on weekends, and summer days. Great place to put out a blanket and have a picnic. I feel Francis William Bird Park is truly a hidden gem in East Walpole.

I visit my sister who lives within walking distance of Bird Park. I have to admit ... I'm addicted to this park. It was developed by William Sumner Bird in 1925 and given to the town of East Walpole in honor of his son Francis William Bird who had died 7 years earlier. Big expanses of well-maintained lawns invite owners to play ball and frisbee with their dogs. There are tennis courts, a basketball court and picnic areas. Park benches are strategically placed for rest and contemplation. There are big fenced playground areas and “tot lots” with lots of equipment. There are streams with old granite bridges traversing them and several duck ponds. Miles of bicycle paths and walks meander through groves of trees and over gently sloping forested hills. Ducks, Canada geese, herons, turtles, frogs, rabbits, squirrels are all residents. Concerts, ice cream socials, fun runs, Shakespeare, Pumpkins in the park are all on the annual agenda.

Grew up in East Walpole and spent many, many wonderful days in this park. Although it has changed a bit through the years, it is still so beautiful, for so many reasons. Biking, walking, tennis, playground and a perfect wedding picture place! :)

Bird Park is filled with old world charm. Many stone walk ways, little bridges, streams, and ponds dot the wooded landscape. The park has a playground, but also many quiet areas. Great for photographers!

This park has really nothing special. It does have a good children's playground, a couple of tennis courts. It is I believe just under 100 acres and does have walking paths. Limited parking.

We've been visiting Bird Park everday, twice a day since we moved to Walpole 24 years ago. It is truly a hidden gem out here in suburbia. It is truly a wonderful place for people of all ages. Everyone is friendly and the park is beautifuly maintained. The current park manager, Josh Hasenfus, is not only a true professional but just a really nice guy to talk with. The park is a hub of social activity as well as a great place to spend time, take the kids or walk your dog. This park is owned and maintained by the Trustees of Reservations and never owned by the town of Walpole, thank god for that. There is a lot of wildlife that visits the park daily. Wednesday morning around 7:30 I saw a healthy fox out for it's morning walk. I have seen coyotes, deer and the resident Blue Heron as well as beautiful birds, owls, hawks, muscrats and rabbits, you just need to take the time to look. Come visit the park and have fun with all of the free activities. The summer concert series are great as well as the annual Ice Cream Social.

A large, quiet, pretty park. Great for a picnic or a pleasant stroll.

Bird Park has everything you could want in a park: a new children's playground, paved and unpaved walking trails, a stage for seasonal performances, little streams and ponds, and plenty of open space. I've heard they're also thinking about adding a space for dogs to go unleashed. The Trustees of Reservation have a gem here.
