While out here in Colorado on vacation from the sunny state of California, we were in search of Denver Broncos stuff. The wife n I are die hard Broncos fans and were told to check this spot out by a Colorado native. We rolled in round 11am lite snow falling and shopped for about an hour. We started off with about 4-6 items and by the time we left, jackpot........ more like 40 items. Thank You Mile High Flea Market for the great souvenirs. We will come back next visit, we promise.
It's a flea market. Don't go to early as some vendors run late. Wear comfortable shoes as there is a lot of area to cover. Know a value, some things are vastly overpriced, some fair. The best deals generally are towards the back ( north ). Bring a wagon you can carry your kids, and or the things you buy. Bring water drinks are kind of expensive, they do serve beer but bathrooms are centrally located. Food is just OK kettle corn being my favorite. My endurance and patience only lasts a half day but you could spend all day here. Oh yea , bring sun screen little shade and it gets horribly hot during the summer
We first discovered the flea market last year on our annual trip to Denver and loved it. It's so giant it easily takes 3 hours to walk through. There were soooo many booths and great deals. This year when we went the first weekend in October, it wasn't that great. There were still a lot of booths, but not the same ones as before, which was a little disappointing since we loved them so much. We still spent a good 3-4 hours walking around and looking at everything, we ate lunch at the taco place which was delicious. As with any flea market it's very hit and miss, but I would definitely recommend going any time you're in Denver. It's also great for kids, they have a lot of rides and games going on, they have a huge farmer's market area that had tons of fresh produce.
Arrived at the Mile High Flea Market at 11am on the dot on a Friday morning, walked in only to find that three forth of the stalls were not opened! How disappointing, after traveling so far to experience it.. (According to their web page hours are 7am to 5pm). Well, hopefully Saturdays and Sundays are better for those who can make it then!
Went on free ride Friday! Blast with family! Great deals! Would recommend to go with family! Cheap price to get in
We made a quick, unplanned stop and ended buying quite a bit of stuff. Well organized and would be a great place to spend a day shopping.
More vendors were closed than open. Got there after 12 pm on a Friday and there were some folks just setting up. Lots of cheap, gawdy stuff. Never going back again.
Have not visited the flea market in a few years. The original owner has been bought out by a corporate company. They have transformed the market into a destination area for 3rd world immigrants. If you need shoes, socks, luggage, children's rides, and lots of food choices this is your place. There is even an event center at the market? I can only imagine what or who would reserve the event center at a flea market. Not the same market when it was owned and operated by one family.
My mother-in-law and my self visited the flea market on a Saturday morning. The website says it opens at 7:00am. When we arrived at 8:45 over half the vendors weren't open. After seeing the first 2 streets you really had seen it all. After a while it all just looks the same and sells the same thing. In our opinion its not all its cracked up to be...
Place is full of cheap junk. Save up your money and buy better quality. The advertised "Paris apartment" is a joke.
I've been to the Mile High Flea Market at least once a year for all the seven summers I've lived in Colorado. The trips have always been on a Saturday or a Sunday, however. It's been hot, noisy, crowded, good-natured fun. And I've always found bargains. But this trip was a resounding disappointment. On a Friday, less than 30% of the shops are open, and those that are open are frequently not ready for business. In one case, a little kiosk that was selling bed linens and curtains, was a frightening fire hazard. I could only step into about three feet before hitting a wall of disorganized piles of merchandise stacked nearly to the ceiling. And for the most part, there were no bargains to be had. I actually saw the same summer dress I'd purchased at Ross for $10 on sale for $28 -- nearly three times the price. The vendors weren't willing to bargain or haggle -- which is supposed to be part of the fun and culture. The two items that did measure up to a good bargain for good quality were luggage and area rugs -- neither of which I needed I did find some summer jewelry for kids at $2 a piece at one location (total expenditure $8) and a harness for my cat ($8). But the corndog was over-cooked and dry, and the cafeteria staff surly. (There was only one place to buy a snack.)My best advice Is to go anytime after mid-morning on a Saturday, with a crowd of people that you really like, and avoid the internal food court. And carry your own supply of toilet paper and sanitary hand wipes.
You can't park until you pay the admission :) Friday: $2 per personSaturday & Sunday: $3 per person3-day pass: $5 per person Children under 12: FREE If your looking for ANYTHING, Antiques to Zeebra striped boots! Im sure its here! A 6 pack of wired bras was $15 (too bad they don't fit my daughter like she though) Hair gel that I normally buy, (Got 2be) was $2, HUGE 5oz bottle of Hugo was $55. Even some EXTRA EXTRA EXTRA long boots, (you'll see in the pics) Thors hammer, food, rides for kids, sheesh! What else are you looking for? Only one thing I'd add... More garbage cans, no, theres not trash all over the place, its pretty clean actually, but they COULD use some more trash cans.
Mile Hi has a mixed bag of vendors including fresh produce and antiques, but also true flea market items and cheap electronics. A fun venue if you like this kind of attraction. Bring a hat and sunscreen, as the venue has no shade and can get very hot in the summer. Also, if you bring kids be prepared to be begged to go on the cheesy carnival rides they have.
My family has been to the Mile High Market Place (formerly the Mile High Flea Market) several times for over 10 years. It costs $2.00 a person for entry. There is plenty of paved parking and many entry points into the shopping areas from the lots. The entire shopping area is asphalt and therefore easy to get around. People with children bring a wagon as this is a large area and kids get tired quickly. The current set up places all of the prodcue in one area called the Farmer's Market, all of the antiques in Antique Alley, a Midway of Amusement Rides, many permanent vendors in buildings, and then a whole lot of vendors who set up just for the day - - often good "treasures" are found at these booths. There is also an Event Center where concerts and other entertainment is scheduled. There are food booths throughout the grounds, and while we have eaten there in the past, we did not purchase any food or drink on our last visit. Lastly, musical acts are scheduled to perform on stage in the seating area of the food vendors. We listened to the band as we walked by, and they were pretty good (plus it was free and a nice way for people to be entertained while eating lunch). Be sure to go the website as there are coupons for discounted entry fees and discounts on ride tickets. We normally go on a Saturday and try to arrive around 11am as the majority of vendors are set up and ready to sell for the day. On this visit we made it through the entire Market Place in 2 hours, but in previous visits we have spent as much as 4 hours shopping. Like others have said, there is something for everyone, and each time we go, we are able to find something.
We visited this flea market in 2007 and again this year and nothing has changed. Hardly any vendors on a Friday and the ridiculous fee of $2 per person (cost us $12 as there were 6 of us in the vehicle) to get into a flea market! For this price, there should have been way more than there were and more variety. Practically every vendor had the same things. We bought a few items but didn't stay long. There were no events going on either. A suggestion: Charge a small parking fee of say $3 and let that be it. Add some additional vendors with other items to sell. If that doesn't change, we will not waste our time when going through Denver again.
