This is a very good place to stroll. In the summer there is music at the band shell and lots of water fowl. It is very relaxing and a wonderful place to read, exercise, or rent kayaks!
Loved being at the park at sunrise and the colors of the sky and the trees were spectacular. I am an amateur photographer and it was a great place to get some great shots. Later in the day I walked the path and enjoyed the views!
This park is part of our family history. Though the lake had some years of muck in it, it is so clean and clear these past few years. We don't live there so don't know just what they do lately to keep it so clean. We just go to enjoy it all as we remember our photos with kids and Grandma in the lovely rose garden, the ball fields where our son played ball during college, the path where our son loved to run around the lake. Ducks and their families were in charge this Sunday as we all waited for them to cross the street going from the lake to the grassy lawn. There are lovely mansions in the area, a beautiful bandshell with frequent concerts, and The Lakeside Drive-Inn, something you must not miss, especially when they have Cruising Night with all those neat cars. Topping it all off is Sugar Loaf, a stone outcropping up on the hill that overlooks the entire city and is the symbol of Winona.
we had several walks here on our two days in Winona. Lots of baby ducks and geese and black squirrels. Peaceful war memorial in the park. This is a lovely place highly recommended.
There are two lakes here and there's a paved bike/running path around both. The small lake is dog-friendly while the large lake is not. There's a war monument at the large lake as well as sand volleyball, baseball fields, and soccer fields. Go to the lodge on the large lake for free rentals of kayaks and canoes during the day during any of the warm months. You have to pay a negligible fee yearly for a membership for the rentals. There's also a nice children's playground on the large lake. The small lake offers open fields and disc golf.
Beautiful view, tourist info building between the lakes. No rentals just a park to relax in. Perfect for couples getaway.
The parks in Winona are awful. They are dirty and rundown! Winona really needs to get it together and work on their parks and appearance of the town as a whole.
There are 6 miles of bike paths around both lakes with views of Sugarloaf Mountain. It is a little piece of heaven. It is also plowed all winter long
