Very cluttered and dirty didn't mind this as much as being ripped off at check out. Be very careful as they don't add or use a calculator very well. No printed receipt so had a surprise when checking bank account to see a 10.00 dollar over charge.

Junk? I'm not sure what in the heck you people are talking about when you say this place is junk because I thought it was wonderful! Just simply delightful! I enjoyed poking around the place looking for that perfect treasure ...and I found it here! Yes, the place is dusty, cold in the winter (put on a scarf), probably hot in the summer (bring a sweat rag), but it was full of real antiques looking for a new home and it's worthy looking through all of it. I don't know about any of you folks, but I like old doors, windows and bath tubs - they transform into pure beauty in your home and they're becoming increasingly hard to find for a good price. This place has it all - and it's all for sale. I didn't run into one item that wasn't for sale for a good price. To those who say nothing was for sale, you probably were asking for the gentleman to give it away - not sell it! I'm sure I'll go back soon with friends to show them the little goldmine in Gonzales. If you plan to visit, don't expect the normal antique store you'd see in River Oaks, or Alamo Heights because this isn't it - it's the REAL deal - as a matter of fact, there was an interior designer visiting while I was there and she was purchasing a load of stuff for her client in an entirely different state. I enjoyed this store very much and plan to return very soon :) This store is not for antique sissy's - my kinda joint!

I know this is a crazy, whacked out establishment, but there just might be a treasure or two hiding behind all that dust, dirt and piled-high "collectibles", so don't be too quick to write this place off. I agree, I probably would last two seconds in there in the summertime, but I went in December, so the temperature wasn't an issue. I picked up a couple of antique heaters that have an abundance of architectural interest that I plan to use as planters. And, my daughter bought a 1910 globe for $90 that's valued at $2500 online. This is certainly not a typical antique store, per se, but it doesn't present itself as anything other than what it appears to be. Enter with a sense of adventure and you just might walk out with a treasure or two.

This is a hoarders paradise. So much junk stacked on itself you cant even find anything. Smells, no heat or A/C. Not worth the time in my opinion

Pitiful this location seems dangerous the floors are literally sagging...this is a hoarders warehouse not a business!

My husband and I shopped the Emporium mid-morning. They have no A/C so it would have been very hot later in the day. Their windows and doors were wide open so everything was dusty inside. The large store needed to be even bigger. The store was very cluttered. I did not find anything to buy but there could be some hidden treasures if you have time to rut around. There is a very nice antique store next door.

I love old junk shops, but this is more like a hoarders shop. Literally have to step over items in aisle, term used loosely, and some areas I couldn't even get to. Can't believe the city hasn't shut this place down. It is a hazard, also came out sneezing like crazy. UCK

I love treasure hunting. This place is beyond finding anything. So much stuff you have to do more than dig. Not my kind of place. Pretty much a waste of time. No AC. Everything in here is covered in dirt. He's not really much of a negotiator and his prices are high. It's a junk store not an antique store. I doubt I will go back and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Yes, they have a lot, and I mean LOT of stuff. Stuff and junk. Sorry, but it was so crowded and dirty inside I really needed to wash up after walking though. If you go in the summer, which is about nine month of the year in Texas, it will be hot. No air conditioning and only a few fans. The place is pretty dirty. Good hunting if you like that sort of thing. Piles of junk, some possibly good if you want to dig.

Went in and was amazed at how much stuff is in this place. However, nothing seems to be for sale. My friends and I were asking about numerous things - windows "We are going to use in the house we are building", podiums "We use for displays", mannequins We use those, too." I did see one helmet labelled "WWI German helmet" for $375. Tons of old doors, windows, chairs, and whatever else you want - but none of it is for sale. Don't waste your time or energy here.

Upstairs no lighting.....wear jeans and tee and comfortable shoes to step over piles of things. If you want to dig there COULD be a treasure but stuff is just buried high. A trip upstairs proved to be fruitless and boxes and boxes that were unopened, broken stuff all over the place from people just raveging through things. Most of which I would have put in the dumpster. It's almost overwhelming as they sat behind the counter but it was very hard to see them with the piles of stuff around them. Stay away from if you have asthma or breathing issues. This building is a true gem but floor to ceiling with junk, really junk.

This might be more junk than treasure but it just felt like junk to me. We watch "Pickers" and we felt that we were in an episode. It was not for me!
