discoveries from the past

Walked in and there were 2 women just gossiping. No hello, no greeting. Walked around, and yes there are some interesting things but many of the items I was interested in had "nfs"...not for sale marked on them. Kind of got frustrated with that. Then I did see something and went to the front and apparently the two women had gone to lunch. The man at the front was staring at a computer screen stuffing his mouth. His back was to the counter. He never looked up. There were other people in there as well. They are only open 3 days a week, so I made a special visit to go to this store. To tell you the truth, if they care so little about my money, I will not be returning.

If you are looking for a very specific architectural antique, this is the place for you. Great collection of door knobs, hinges, fixtures, flooring, doors and stained glass. Fun to hunt through all the antique keys and such. Pricey!!!

Prepare to spend a lot of time here. This place is packed with fascinating stuff salvaged from old buildings - porch railings, stained glass windows, hardware of all kinds..... This is no thrift store, but a shop that sells to serious restorers and collectors. Well known to the folks who care for buildings on the National Register.

If you are looking for old doors and/or old door hardware then you need to shop at Discoveries From the Past. The items were very interesting the see, like a museum. There were some other antiques as well.

Great selection of solid wood doors and had the glass doorknobs that were original in our house. She will bargain with you on price - so don't let that keep you away, We were glad we made the drive!

Lots of inventory. Suzanne is a sweetheart. She's been doing this a good while and knows her stuff. They have doors, hardware, furniture, light fixtures, bathroom fixtures, reclaimed wood, etc. do check this place out when your in Gonzales if you love old things especially is you're a DIYer on you own home.

Incredible selection of old door knobs, and antique items but the prices are very high. It's very doubtful you will find a "bargain" here.
