We are used to ships that are museums being floating next to a dock, but this on is on dry land. The tour of the major parts of the ship takes about 3/4 hour, with time at their small museum (next to the entrance and small gift shop) taking as long as the visitor wants. Expect lots of climbing stairs and ladders. We had no idea the ship was so old (more than a hundred years) until we saw the interior, especially the cabins and offices which looked ancient. It was an interesting experience. Our only suggestion is that the pleasant guide could have known more about the ship.

The Meteor is the last remaining whaleback boat in the world. The unique steamships, constructed in WI and MN during the 1800s, were designed by Captain Alexander McDougall (1845–1923), earning the nickname McDougall's Folly. A guided tour through the vessel proved to be quite educational and interesting as the guide shared the history of the boat, crew and McDougall, himself. The boat is maintained by volunteers who were painting the hull during this visit. It's one of a kind.

THis is a rare look at the last whaleback ship. It is nicecly set up as if you are part of the ship. I really enjoyed the tour!

The tour of the boat was very interesting, and the tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable. There is no public restroom on the ship, and no drinking fountain - be prepared. It can be very warm on the tour - water would be helpful.

My family and I brought my dad here. He really enjoyed it and so did the rest of the family. My dad was in a power chair and this place was surprisingly very wheelchair accessible. It is also a good place to take kids because there are interactive areas and a little movie area playing history of Lake Superior and the shipping industry and other related facts.

The tour of the ship and the small museum was an interesting way to spend an hour or so on a blustery afternoon. The guide was personable and knowledgeable, the ship unique and fascinating. There was a small playground nearby for a small child to enjoy while waiting for the tour to begin. Narrow stairways make this an exploration for the somewhat fit and curious.

I love the history of these old ships and how they were constructed. A romantic history if you will fraught with danger. I understand a young Franklin Roosevelt was knocked in the water by a wave from the launching of a whale back in Superior in the 1890's and saved by a local woman. Cool!

We enjoyed out guided tour of the last whaleback ship in existence. The guide was informative and interesting. The attached museum had interesting displays and it was well worth the time and money.

Great tour of the last of the predecessors of modern Great Lakes bulk freighters. Tour from engine room to pilothouse. Guide was very informative and enthusiastic. Ship also contains a nice little museum containing artifacts from and pictures of many of the old whaleback steamers. Also a nice gift shop. Great value for the money.

This is a fascinating ship and one of a handful left in the world. The tour is very thorough and it's so interesting to see how this ship is laid out. We were very surprised and really glad we took the tour.
