If you have never been your missing an amazing peaceful joyful time. Nothing can compare to sitting out under the stars and moon enjoying a concert and story that is very real. The scenery at this loication is awesome, and totally relaxing. There are many things to see and some very old buildings, museums, parks and a very up to date beautiful golf course. Enjoy
This was a very enjoyable outdoor musical. The amphitheater on the side of the hill made every seat a front row seat. The acts were very enjoyable.
Absolutely wonderful. Just wonderful. You will have such a good time. Don't pass this up. Make time for it. So so much fun. The music & dancing was great. The show wonderful. If you are a fan of Country Gold music, as my husband & I are, this will be a real treat for you. My one suggestion is if you would like a drink or snacks be sure to take your own as the concession vendors never quite made their was to us & I was thirsty.
It had poured that day, about 1/2 an hour before the musical started it stopped so the show went on. At intermission it started sprinkling a little bit and one more act went on before it started flooding and there was lightning and thunder so they called the show. We were given tickets to come back again in the next year. That was very nice although we probably won't make it back there as it's about a 10 hour drive for us. But what I saw of the musical, it was very good. I especially like the African dancers. Sit in the 3rd row, not the 2nd if you can. The first row is pretty close and the 2nd row is not on an incline but the 3rd row starts stadium seating.
Awesome musical once again. In the beautiful Burning Hills amphitheater. You get a feeling of being drawn into the old west
Kids will love this as will the adults! The singers are excellent and they always have really fun talent for the shows. You really cant go wrong unless its downpouring rain!
We are annual travelers to the beautiful location of Medora and the badlands. We usually go to the Musical every other year, and they never disappoint. Love that it's outdoors, with the beautiful badlands as a backdrop to the show. A must see if in the area!!
I used to go to this musical every year as a child and remember the magic the medora musical always brought me. Maybe it's because I'm older and travelled a great deal more places now, or maybe whoever runs it has changed, but I just didn't have the magic I was looking forward to after years of being away. The singers/dancers were very talented and they had a semi-famous name singer as part of the act (I don't watch tv and had no idea who she was but the people behind us were pretty excited so I guess she was pretty big name) but I just didn't get the same enjoyment. The acting was cheesier than I remember and the sliding sets were barely used at all. The horses which used to ride up the back hills with a spot light and carry the us/can flags were non existent. The show was still enjoyable, but I wish it had been more like the old ones where there was an actual story line to follow instead of the decade flashback that I could have gotten on a cd at walmart.
The Medora musical was great fun. I was pleasantly surprised by the high level of entertainment - if you are in the area, you don't want to miss this!
This was the second time we have driven to Medora from Missouri. One of the reasons is to see the Theodore Roosevelt Parks and since we are there, the musical is great fun and a total enjoyable evening. I would definitely recommend it.
We missed this show when we visited North Dakota in 2006 and our friends in Bismarck made sure we didn't miss it this time, We attended in July and the night was perfect and the performers fantastic. Highly recommend this show.
I really loved this country/western musical in its beautiful setting of western North Dakota. The costuming was good, the music great, the vocal music excellent for the most part, and the amphitheater setting beautiful. The show is filled with energy. I didn't expect to be awed by the Chicago Boyz performance, but I definitely was. What energy, agility, and talent they have! Even my husband, not particularly interested in that kind of show, loved their performance as well as the rest of the musical. It was fun to sing along with the decades of songs that I've grown up listening to and singing. The visual effects were wonderful; the entire show made me proud to be a North Dakotan (even though all of the performers aren't from North Dakota). Medora is definitely filled with tourist traps but we will certainly go back for the musical now that we've finally been there and experienced it.
The show is a must for all ages. Outstanding singing, dancing, with a short history story and comedy mix. The outdoor seating and stage are very unique. the escalators make it very easy for travelers of all ages.
My husband and I have been going to the a Medora Musical for over 20 years. It is one of North Dakotas best attractions. There are so many talented dancers and vocalists from around the United States who perform here. The Pitchfork Fondue, which is before the Musical is also excellent. Before the Musical and Pitchfork Fondue make sure you experience a drive through the Theodore Roosevelt National Park.
We attended one of the last shows of the season. The performers were professional, and oh-boy could they dance! I was exhausted just watching their first few numbers! But they kept up the pace and put on a great show. Nice that many are local kids. The story is a bit hokey but it's entertaining enough. So fun to sit outside and watch the sun set and the colors and lighting on the stage change as night falls. Really unique to have horses on the mountain behind the stage as part of the show. I'd recommend this.
