Stopped here on our way to Angels Camp...Nice room with lots of wine options...We tasted with a woman who seemed a bit bossy but we focused on the wine and not her personality. We liked the zins, Syrah, and especially the cab. The cab is still a bit young but in time, will be an excellent bottle of wine. It has a smooth finish and offers amazing structure with layers of flavor. WOW! That was well worth the tasting itself...
Recently enjoyed this tasting room during visit to Sutter Creek. JR was especially cheerful and informative and took great pride and joy in sharing tales of his family's 5th generation of wine making (having been to Cinque Terre in Italy, it was a fun to find another "Cinque" in California!). Plentiful, generous tastings with fee waived with a wine purchase. Very good reds (I was partial to the Primitivo and the Syrah) and the Sauvignon Blanc is also nice and crisp. Well worth a visit when wine tasting in this area!
Gold Hills Barbera and Merlot were some of the best wines we tasted on this trip to Lodi, Amador and El Dorado wine country. Travis was a bit prickly when we first walked in, we were in a bit of a hurry, it was on our way out of town and we just wanted to buy a bottle for that evening. But he warmed up to us when we loved the wine and bought several cases.
Sutter Creek is located in the Amador County wine-making region. There are lots of wineries to choose from, but if you have limited time, head to the town of Sutter Creek. There you can visit the downtown tasting rooms of several wineries including Cinque, Andis Winery Scott Harvey. JR at Cinque is so knowledgeable and personable. He'll make your visit memorable. Also downtown are cute boutiques for ladies apparel, antique shops and candy stores. Nice restaurants in town too including J&D's Steakhouse where we had huge hamburgers. Lots of locals eating there as well as tourists.
Bella Grace has a fantastic wine selection and tasting room.Andis also has great variety of wines though the room is small....taste and run....Great Zins.Bella Grace is more of a wine experience. just the ones I experienced .
There is a restaurant called susan's Place in Sutter Creek that includes wine tasting and very adventurous lunches. Don't miss it.
This place has some of the best red wines. Dillon was my favorite!
Mary Jo, our wine expert, never rushed us (although it was fast approaching closing time), held our items for a later pick-up, was funny and approachable, and made for a good visit. She found the perfect wine for each of us (four people)...so we joined the wine club!
Scott Harvey was great Youngs was a beautiful property but less than par wines for the area. Karly was great wine and a wonderful hostess at the tasting room
I stopped in to taste their flavored champagnes and signed up for the Champagne Club, which committed me to buy two bottles of champagne every other month for a year. I found out later that I had been signed up for the WINE club and when I called to let them know it was a mistake, they refused to switch my membership to the champagne club. They acted like I was lying about it and said I needed to talk to the owner. The owner never returned my call. Now I'm stuck buying a year's worth of wine that I didn't really want. Even though it's good wine, their poor customer service has left a bad taste in my mouth.
Very friendly service - great wine. Nice area and leisurely pace
This was a cozy and charming little tasting room featuring wines from all local Amador County wineries. You were free to taste as many or as few as you liked. Only down side was a couple of rowdy and raunchy guests who really detracted from the quiet simplicity of the experience.
Great Syrahs and Zins. Check out Andis, Cooper, Toscano (great Tempranillo), Helwig and Vino Noceto.
