We visited Avio as we had a spare night on our honeymoon road trip. And how pleased we were! Avio is beautiful and relaxing, Stefano and Lisa are the perfect hosts, and the wine is delicious. Shutter Creek town is a really quaint area and it was the perfect antidote to all the travelling and cities.

This destination beats almost all of the wineries in Amador and Placer counties for ambience and view. The proprietess, an attractive, infinitely patient young woman, enthusiastically explained the unique character of each wine and its history. Most enjoyable.

We met Stefano at a wine tasting on a Mediterrenean Cruise (one of his wines was featured). When we mentioned that we were planning a trip to California he invited us to visit his winery in Amador County (central California). The vineyards are beautiful and as you walk up to the tasting room you feel like you have just stepped into Italy. We were lucky that day. Stefano was around and took us on a wonderful tour of the property, including the really nice event space and guest lodging. You can tell Lisa and Stefano have put a lot of time and love into this winery. We felt welcome and enjoyed tasting the excellent wines! Amador County has quite a few wineries and the area is definitely worth a visit. We were wishing we had had more time there!
