you have to be able to tolerate the cigarette smoke, but for someone that never been in a casino it is an experience.
I sat in the sauna after having a massage and found both to be very relaxing. All staff are professional and friendly. I nice place to stay and relax.
Was kicked out of Casino Creek side buffet after playing morning tournament? Was waiting for my son and making a few phone calls. This was the best spot because noise from construction on the outside patio. Cell reception was better inside less noise...In the middle of making an appointment the security team arrived (waiters & waitresses lied to security and said I yelled at them)? Needless to say, I was ushered out because staff lied.
I really, really like this casino and have been a frequent visitor for over a decade. Are there things I don't like about it? Yes. I wish they would stop moving or getting rid of slot machines that I really enjoy playing. (I realize that old machines have to go in order to make way for new ones, but please, some of the new ones are really stupid!) I wish the casino itself was larger. With that said, I continue to be really impressed with the customer service at this casino, which is way beyond what you will find at its competitors. The cashier personnel are very helpful, as are the personnel who work on the casino floor. And, most importantly, this casino is clean! They spend a lot of resources on ensuring that empty glasses are picked up and ashtrays emptied. I will visit again.
We went to gamble or should I say "lose money", but that was not our primary reason for going there that evening. Was their free two band New Year's Celebration. When we went in to dance some, we were greeted by music that was extremely loud. Looked around and saw the sound "technician" at the controls, verified that he was controlling the volume and ask him to please lower it as it was too loud. He said I was the first to complain. I mentioned to him I've been a "trailblazer" making changes with national companies, where originally told "that's the way it is" and within six months I made them change the "way it was" to the way it should be. So I asked him how many decibels the volume was? He said he had been contracted to play at 103 decibels (that is a measure of loudness), but that he was keeping it at 99 dcs. I informed him that anything over 85 decibels for more than 10 min. would damage your hearing. He said he did not know about that but he did not lower the volume.Next tried to contact the "entertainment" manager, but "was not around". I left my contact information and so far no one from Chumash Casino has contacted me. I guess till someone files a lawsuit to keep it at a reasonable level, the damage to the hearing of dumb people that think loudness is the way to enjoy music will continue. I, even with ear guard could not enjoy it so I didn't stick around. On a side note, two yrs. ago the concert Cher had at Caesar's Forum in Vegas was excellent! Both in production song selection and audio. But last year her show at the MGM, was TERRIBLE! Starting with very poor and very loud audio, and the production, which I compared to "high school" quality. I later found out that if you want to enjoy a concert, you go to a showroom, if you just want a lot of "party loud noise" you go to an arena which is what the MGM has. Complained but was told that "people have complained but it does no good". Well maybe I have to put on my "trailblazer" shoes again and make them change so whether I paid or is free, I can enjoy the music, Don't be shy and call attention to persons in charge of loudness at music venues. Just like many years ago restaurants thought that no smoking was going to hurt their income, it has been a very welcome surprise that now more people go out to enjoy their meal.
I've been here a couple of times for concerts and always enjoyed it. This visit I came for dinner and had to get the players card for a discount. To my pleasant surprise it came with $50 free play. Awesome! I won $86! Well played Chumash...I'll be back for Bingo :) there was a slight smoke smell but nothing like you get in Vegas. They are remodeling a bit - I plan on staying in the hotel next.
We took a trip last weekend for a few hours of bliss at the Spa, located in the Chumash Resort. We weren't sure what to expect but were very pleased. The atmosphere is very calming and the attendants extremely professional and competent. We each did a different treatment and every one of us LOVED what was done. The price is comparable to other spa's offering a similar style and treatment. Everything that we do spa-wise, we compare to the Qua spa at Caesar's and this one was very much up there for it's size and amenities.Check in was quick, explanation of the spa and what was available was made clearly. We were called in at the exact time scheduled and then "heaven". After the treatments, we went to the pool which is outdoors but enclosed with a wall for privacy. We got lucky for two reasons. 1) We were the only ones out there at that time and 2) the weather was perfect. It was like our own little mini retreat for a group of friends. We relaxed out there for quite a while and had our lunch brought out to us. The food, by the way, was delicious! And again, the service perfect.Overall, we decided that we'd be making this a regular treat for ourselves when we wanted to get away for a quick day trip.
My friend gave me a surprise trip to Solvang, sort of like a send off from our trip together. She called Chumash to see if there were any shows and how lucky we were to find out that Neil Sedaka was playing. His show was the topping on the cake that was my fabulous trip.
This casino is too small and crowded and the smoke is horrible. I dnow only go for the entertainment and the Willows restaurant.
I hate this casino. There is nothing to do but bang away on machines or play the tables. No booze,no sports book no music,no poker machines. You feel like your in JAIL once you walk thru the door.No break in gambling. At least have a place to hang out and take a break from the noise & smoke...but they don't.
We had a good time. Friendly people and for the most part clean but there was a lot of smoke. Cafe food just ok
I didn't even know this place existed. I was travelling to a football game and decided to stay in Solvang. I was so surprised when I saw this place off the road in Solvang. I would have booked a room here had I known! On my way out of town the next day, I stopped here with my son to check it out. Loved it! Very clean. Lots of machines and tables. Everything looked new. Great atmosphere! Even won a little money in the time we were gambling. I will definitely be back!!
I've been here twice now and both times I left richer than when I went in. The place had lots of people and it was hopping! They have a wide variety of slot machines here with some good old school ones mixed in among the newer model slot machines. They even had a bank of machines where you could win a car. Oh well, I will win that one next time!
I love to drop in at Chumash Casino whenever I am in the Santa Ynez area because although I don't gamble much - they have terrific gift shops, a wonderful Spa and really fine dining at the Willows restaurant on-site. The hotel has been upgraded recently which makes for a pleasant stay should you want to spend the night as well. The cigarette smoke and loud cacophony of slot machines turns me off & so I rarely gamble (well, -full disclosure- that, and the fact I rarely win if I do gamble.) I find the above mentioned attributes plenty attractive though so I do visit frequently.
I happened upon eating here one day while visiting the casino. It was really good! Then I had the buffet a second time with a visiting family member and didn't realize they have "theme" nights and we were there for the Mexican fiesta. Great selection, very tasty and beautiful. Then came the mariachi's and wow were they good. Loud loud loud but very lively and fun. On a third trip we had the seafood/steak night and it too was very good but more pricey. I had prime rib and mahi mahi and it was cooked to perfection. LOTS of desserts each time we went too. They even have sugar free desserts (thank goodness because I'm diabetic). I'd go if you are vising the casino for sure!
