There are two lakes with picnic areas and walking trails, a fire tower you can climb with a breathtaking view. Camping is available with electric hookups and a small store. No showers out houses.
Good place to go for hiking, fishing and family activities. Lots of hiking trails and a couple of lakes. Something for everyone!
We usually visit this park for the day once or twice a year. There is a lake near the primitive camping that is primarily used for fishing. Another lake is near the Camp Store and camp areas for tents and motor homes. The canoe and paddle boat rental at that lake is fun. The beach is small and kind of grungy but after all, it ISN'T the Cayman Islands. haha The kids still enjoy messing around in the water and digging in the sand. The campground streets are pretty safe for kids to ride their bikes - not much traffic and mostly slow. There is a little amphitheater for outdoor movies in the summer. Behind the camping areas there is a (mostly) dry creek bed that is fun for kids to explore. For day use. there are dozens of picnic tables scattered throughout the park, a large reservable shelter near a playground, and a gazebo w/tables on a small island overlooking the main lake. About once a year we camp there for two or three days during a "non-peak" time. Weekdays in the fall are very pleasant weather and hardly any other campers. Sometimes we almost have the whole park to ourselves. No matter where you camp, or how busy it is, you are really "in the woods," unlike some parks that have huge areas w/hundreds of campsites out in the open.
We have went to Scioto Trails just about twice a month for over 20 years! I grew up going there for reunions and cookouts. We've never camped there because we lived just miles from the park but, we've used all the amenities. There are several picnic areas that's are clean and most have a small grill in place. There is a nice sized play area with swings and a jungle gym for kids. A swimming area and plenty of lakes for fishing. The trails are nice with some short and done longer. There are a lot of camping areas that are a nice size. The park has always been clean and quiet.A great place to take the kids and pets!
Have been visiting this park for over 40 years. Our kids have fond memories of picnics, fishing, hiking & camping here. Now our grandkids are enjoying it just as much. Great place to spend a day or week:)
The place is just a park nothing fancy just some trees and some lakes I do not want to come often as the same stuff you can see every time you visit nothing changes
I grew up in this area and always enjoy visiting Scioto Trails when I come back for family events. Despite the fact that many parks of this nature are facing the challenge of constant budget cuts, this park has always been well maintained and if there are budget cuts, I have never seen any evidence of it. The grounds are beautiful and there are a couple places where a person can sit and look out over a valley and enjoy a wonderful view. The campgrounds are very nice - one is a walk-in campground and the other is a drive-in campground. Both are by lovely lakes. This is a peaceful oasis in a busy world.
Wonderful park atmosphere. Camps, fire towers, shelters, lake, fishing, friendly rangers. Good place to camp (with permission of rangers) and great picnic and relaxation close, but away from home
Beautiful park with beautiful scenery. Good fishing spots and hiking trails. Close enough to town that you can grab quick food for a picnic, but rural enough to listen to the birds and watch for wildlife.
Beautiful area to drive thru and have a picnic. Quiet, not much traffic. Well maintained facilities.
If you like peace and quiet in a natural setting, this state park located about one hour south of Columbus provides a refreshing break. Beautiful picnic grounds and walking trails, it's a little taste of southern Ohio without going all the way to the river. Pack your own lunch, or get something in Chillicothe while on your way, and you've got a nice little getaway for a summer afternoon.
a relaxing park in between two ridges you kind of get lost in the valley along with the lake.a great place to camp beutiful in the fall
the area was real clean, and restrooms were clean, nobody bothered us, nice staff. our son was able to move around without anyone staring at us.
Nice place to see year round. Love the drive in the fall when all the leaves are displaying their colors.
Lovely out door area to visit and hike , if you like outdoor picnics it is a great place to spend a quiet day
