great little stop that teaches about the past and a race very little is known about, like why the walls? many sites around like this, kids can get a badge for doing a free adventure and get sworn in :)

This place is a great piece of history I would not want to come often as it eats boring after 5 visits make sure that you bring water and a camera to the attraction so you can keep the memory in the family and to keep hydrated

Nicely maintained mound group by the welcome center. Go early or off peak hours to enjoy the scene. Walk around the wooded path there is a picnic spot behind the Welcome Center

Mound City is a very nice earthworks park and was something fun to do for an afternoon. Earthworks are an extremely interesting part of Ohio history. It's evident that Mound City is maintained by the National Park Service - The grounds are well kept and the small museum inside the visitor center has many artifacts displayed nicely. The film for the museum is a little outdated - but still, educational. The mounds are the real stars (obviously), though. You'll find many signs describing the rituals and mounds' origins - as well as preservation efforts - near the actual mounds. There's a small gift shop as well with books, games, stuffed animals, postcards - etc.All in all a great place to experience.

It is simple, yet amazing to learn of a "not well-know" indian culture from that region and the architecture used to burry their dead, and the city/cultural structure of that indian race

About 3 miles North of Chillicothe on SR 104. Great example of mounds and earthworks. There is a short, informative movie in the visitor center as well as a gift shop and displays of artifacts. I would allow at least an hour for a visit. The site is a great teaching tool if you have children and interesting for anyone. No entry fee.

Just north of Chillicothe on state route 104, this is a very interesting site to visit. There is no admission charge. The movie that you can view before touring the grounds has been improved upon in the past couple of years (still informative, but easier to watch). There are displays of artifacts, and a gift shop. A family can easily spend an hour or more here by browsing the shop and displays, viewing the movie, and then taking a self-guided tour of the grounds. Be sure to walk all the way back to the path along the bank of the Scioto river.
