This free museum is located on the grounds of FAU. It is loaded with plenty of beautiful artwork by Edna Hibel, and there is a docent who will take you around and tell you interesting stories about the artist, and her variety of artwork.A great place to stop for 1/2-1 hour visit. There is also a small gift shop with pretty objects to buy.
Great variety of art. Friendly staff. Nice rainy day activity. Culture is never a bad thing. The Museum continues to offers a Concert Series inside the Hibel Museum on the second Sunday of each month from December through March at 2
Although I've lived within biking distance of the Hibel Museum for almost two years now, it wasn't until my sister came to visit and we were looking for something to do that we decided to check it out. I had a friend who was a collector of Hibel, so I was familiar with her lovely mother and child portraits. The museum has a broad representation of her work on display, from her first ever artwork at the age of 10 through her days as an art student to her more current work. The museum is small -- really just one large room in a concrete outbuilding on the campus of FAU. We first perused the artwork on our own, and then asked the docent to answer some questions for us. That lovely lady did answer our questions about techniques, and was also full of other interesting information about Ms. Hibel's life and her work. My favorite work is one where she let her toddler granddaughter put color on a canvas, and then painted her granddaughter's face in an open area. A portrait of the grown-up granddaughter is next to it.Admission is free; donations are appreciated; and there is a small gift shop. I understand that there are events there during the year such as a tea or a concert. The museum is a pleasant way to spend a little time and learn something about this amazing contemporary artist!
We attended a concert at the Hibel Museum of art, and we loved it. The artwork was beautiful, and Miss Hibel was there herself ( she is 97 I believe). It was wonderful meeting her and getting pictures with her. The gift shop is amazing, and we bought a book from there and have enjoyed it.The artwork is beautiful and well done, and the museum itself is in such a good area.
