Very cute museum that sits right off of HWY 19. Very well maintained with an authentic log cabin. Picnic area available.

We stopped by while out exploring and spent about an hour looking around. It is kept up very well and everyone is knowledgeable and friendly. It is a place to stop for a quick look around and the cost is minimal.

This is a small, uncrowded state park. We have gone there several times and on most of the visits, we were the only ones there.The grounds of the museum have beautiful old wooden buildings depicting life from Florida's past, when people lived off the land. Because the park is normally uncrowded, it is a great place to take photos of the old buildings and farm tools. The museum is well maintained and clean. The admission price is very reasonable. Expect to take 1 to 2 hours to see the park.

We were stopping overnight in the area and thought we'd check out this museum. The price was right at $2/per, and we were the only visitors when we stopped by. The 'museum' is fitting in more ways than one. The exhibits were interesting and told the story of the forestry history of this area, but here's an idea of how old this exhibit is: One display was speaking of how if we didn't alter the forest management habits by 1985, there would be dramatic consequences in the forest by 2000. Not sure how that worked out. The best and most interesting part of the place is the old homestead and farm. I really like that I can show my 7 year old how life used to be way back before Nintendo and DVDs, though apparently they still had stuffed dollies even back in the 1860s. Some of the old logging and farming equipment was also interesting to see though I think some of it might not be exactly appropriate to the age of the old preserved farmhouse. Plan on spending about a hour total to cover everything, that's about all that's necessary. It's relatively cheap and would make a good roadtrip break if you're going through the area.
