I had some spare time before my flight to the UK in Feb 2015 and wanted to visit one of the "Trilogy" houses in Roswell. As I live near Barrington Court in Somerset, UK this house intrigued me - I was not disappointed. Although not as old as Barrington Court, it has had a great history and this was revealed by a very knowledgeable and informative docent. If you are in the area, I would recommend visiting Barrington Hall - a great glimpse of history past - and a great example of history preserved. Well done the volunteers

Dolores, our volunteer docent, was the most informative and interesting guide. She clearly knows plenty about Barrington Hall, but also has a wealth of knowledge about history. She shared so many facts and answered a variety of questions. In addition to giving a fabulous tour of the home, Dolores also knows all about the pretty and well kept gardens and grounds outside. If you are planning to have lunch at one of the many good eateries in Roswell, also plan to have a go at Barrington Hall.

I won't tell you why it's sort of associated... YOU JUST HAVE TO VISIT! Lovely and friendly tour guides! Very knowledgable!

Of the three historical homes in Roswell, Barrington is the most authentic and has the most knowledgeable docents of the three homes. I have been there twice and Dolores and Juliette give different but interesting views of the homes and Roswell's history as well as the Civil War. The house has been rebuilt to its original design and has authentic furniture for the period.I believe it is the only home in the Atlanta area with an original Antebellum garden. Get there about 20 minutes before your tour is scheduled to walk the garden and rear area of the lot.The tours run about 50 minutes, so if you are trying to do all three homes in one day let the docent know. Bullock is just across the street, but Smith Plantation is about a 1/2 to 2/3 mile walk or drive. There is an excellent selection of restaurants on Canton Street in Roswell, which is across the street from Smith Plantation.

This Hall while lovely to look at is not the venue for a evening outdoor wedding, if you want to have the wedding in the front lawn. The setting sun will bake your guests, and not in a good way. If your planning more than 30 guests with a reception I would recommend renting a porta potty as there is only one toilet available on site. This site is best for visiting, not entertaining guest.

A real gem. Built in 1842 and lived in by the SAME family for over 160 years! Full of original family possessions. Plus our tour guide Michael knew everything about the family and property and was entertaining to boot. Oh, and seven acres of original landscape and a mid 19th formal boxwood garden. Don't miss it!

It is a trek but if you're intersted in historical sites go here. The tours are very informative on the history of the house. Plus Rosewell is a beautiful town with amazing antique stores

Antebellum house that survived the Civil War virtually intact. Filled with original furnishings. The best part was the docent's talk -- filled with gossipy tidbits about the families that lived there and dirt-dishings about the neighbors.

Interesting about the history of Roswell. Downside doors not open when we arrived so not sure if tour was on.

Barrington Hall is one of several elegant houses owned and maintained by the City of Roswell. In the center of town on an intact garden of perhaps eight acres, it is an oasis in a very densely populated suburb of Atlanta. The house is a magnificently preserved large Greek Revival mansion with fluted columns on three sides. The interior is in pristine condition and elegantly furnished. The gardens are nicely maintained with a number of pleasing garden structures present.A large urn of iced lemon water is offered to visitors on the front porch. The docents and staffs are making a successful effort to maintain an elegant sensibility to what is a truly grand residence. Don't hurry through your experience of this grand old lady of the south.Parking is close by and free. It's well worth wandering half a mile east to Canton Street on foot and there enjoying a fine meal and wandering in dozens of shops and galleries.

Several girls in the neighborhood went to a cooking class. We had a blast and the tour is fun and informative. The menu and the cooking part was just average.

Wowed by the visit. Great tour guide, Michael, really knew about the house and his enthusiasm showed. The same family liver here forever, so most of what is in the house is original, which is pretty rare these days. Plus amazing grounds! A real gem, Roswell should be proud.

The home is lovely. The restoration is beautiful. Such a part of the history of Roswell. Would highly recommend visiting.

I have lived in or near Roswell for about 30 years now and although I have visited Barrington Hall before this time we decided to take the 'formal' tour. This house and the history surrounding it is truly interesting and remarkable. The home is beautiful inside and out and the stories of the occupants is quite interesting. The tour ended in the kitchen with an informal chat and an ice cream sundae. The tour price is reasonable and if you are a AAA member there is a discount. Just bring your card in with you.

This is the 1842 Greek Revival home of Barrington King, the son of Roswell King who was the founder of Roswell, GA. In addition to seeing how a prominent southern family lived, we learned the history of the King family which was very interesting. Because we were the only ones on the tour, our tour guide took extra time with us and answered many questions. The home had remained in the King family up until 1996 when Katherine Simpson, great - granddaughter of Barrington King passed away. A new owner had painstakingly restored the house around 2003 before selling it to the city of Roswell. Also, the gardens are beautiful and worth walking around. If you're looking for a beautiful antebellum house, this is it!
