This castle is not that special from the outside but it's really beautiful on the inside and has quite some interesting tapestries.

Detmold is absolutly a Town to visit,with nice old houses,the castle tour is higly recomended it is very Interesting and its worth seing it,

Having visited Germany times and seen my share of castles after a while they get monotonous. This Castle, home of the family which ruled the Kingdom of Lippe for over 200 years does stand out. First of all, it is not huge. Of course, it's not tiny....after all it's a castle....created to intimidate the non-royals. The guided tour is in German only; I didn't see anyone on an English speaking tour, but there might be some. Being proficient in understanding German helps, and our guide spoke very clearly. The castle is a great example of "Weser Renaissance", an architectual standard of the Weser River Valley. By the way, the city of Hameln (Hamlin in English) is not far away. It's motif of course is "The Pied Piper of Hamlin" and all those rats! For the castle Four Stars; for Hamlin 3.5 Stars.

just a stunning little town with amazing architecture, lots to do with the children, lots of sjops to visit and lots of history associated with the town. The local people are welcoming and adore well behaved children.

This palace is more interesting than I had expected. Especially the gigantic tapestries are remarkably well preserved. The tour is well done. Be sure to ask questions, the tour guides are very knowledgeable and the most interesting material comes outside of the usual script.

The historic castle of Lippe is very beautiful outside and inside. There is a park to chill out and enjoy the castle view, its for free. But if you wanna visit the interior, you must pay around 4 euros (students half) and there is a guided tour, only in german, but it is very interesting.

Lovely guided trip with a very informative guide in a wonderful Castle with some beautiful and valuable tapestries on the walls

Aunque el lugar es grande, indudablemente, la arquitectura no es muy clásica. Sin embargo se localiza en una ciudad muy vieja y bonita. Tiene una zona verde muy grande frente al palacio y eso le da muy buena vista.

Wer Detmold besucht, muss das Schloss gesehen haben. Für kleines Geld bekommt man hier richtig viel zu sehen .

Interessantes Gebäude, viele Architekturstile, ab Renaissance bis Historismus, zusammengeschmolzen. Prächtige Räume, Porzellansammlung, Ölgemälde, kostbare Gobelins und Möbel. Dazu war die Führung zwar sehr informative, aber zu kurz. Besser Vormittags und bei Sonnenlicht zu besichtigen, sonst etwas dunkel.

Das Schloss ist als Gebäude an sich sehr schön und macht Vorfreude auf eine Besichtigung. Innen kann man nur einen Teil sehen - logischerweise, da noch bewohnt - und man kann ausschließlich mit einer Führung durchgehen. Was innen zu sehen ist, reißt einen nicht vom Hocker. Auch die Führung als solche ist mehr als bieder, vor allem für Kinder ist die Einschlafgefahr sehr hoch. Wenn man in Detmold ist und Zeit hat, kann man das Schloss besichtigen, es schadet nicht und ist sehr günstig; wer es nicht macht, hat aber auch nicht viel verpasst.

Wer die Stadt Detmold besucht, der sollte auf jeden Fall das Schloß besucht haben. Hier im Herzen von Detmold können Sie in Filzpantoffeln einen Großteil des Schlosses besichtigen.

Das malerische Schloß liegt im Herzen der Residenzstadt Detmold. Die Besichtigung ist Höhepunkt bei einem Besuch des mittelalterlichen Stadtkerns, der mit seinen Geschäften und Cafés zum Bummeln und Einkaufen einlädt. Es ist die Residenz der Fürsten zur Lippe und befindet sich in einem sehr gepflegten Zustand. Die Gemälde gefallen mir besonders gut.

Tijdens ons bezoek aan Detmold ook even wat cultuur gesnoven en het "schloss" bezocht. Voor 4 euro ook de rondleiding meegepikt, zeker de moeite waard en tijdens de rondleiding ook even een mooi schilderij van onze prins Bernard ontdekt. Zeker de moeite waard om er een bezoek en bezichtiging te doen, maar ook alleen even door de tuin wandelen is ook een genot. Jammer genoeg konden de tuinen op de bovengelegen gedeeltes niet bezichtigd worden, we zagen hier wel enkele interessante bomen en planten staan die wij graag van dichterbij hadden willen bekijken.

Ich komme immer wieder gerne hierher. Dafür das dieses Schloss mit nur sehr wenig öffentlichen Mitteln unterstützt wird, ist es in einem perfekten Zustand. Sehr gepflegt, nirgends etwas auszusetzen. wunderbare Kristalllampen, traumhafte Gobelins, viele alte Gemälde, sehr schöne Aussenanlagen, die Führungen zeugen auch von großer Erfahrung der beteiligten Personen.Ein unbedingtes Muss, wenn man in Detmold verweilt.
