Been to this zoo twice and it is fantastic. Great mix of safari animals and farm animals, lots to keep you entertained. Also a petting zoo with guinea pigs and rabbits, chickens, lambs etc.Get on the safari bus and be taken to feed the emus and ostriches who will stick their beaks right into the bus trying to get your food!
We visited Zoodoo to experience an encounter with the meerkats, an animal unknown to us until a TV show and series of ads endeared them to us. We were not disappointed. Having ten minutes sitting in their pen, feeding them mealworms whilst their keeper snapped 100+ photos of the encounter, was well worth the $45 we paid for the experience. At one point a meerkat sentry, standing erect and fixated on a point in the sky above gave an audible warning. I looked up and was amazed to see a wedge-tail eagle in the far distance ... what incredible eyesight! We enjoyed the safari ride with its close interaction with zebras, ostriches, camels and alpacas, fed a white lion and were entertained by frollicking marmoset monkeys. All in all an enjoyable visit. We usually check out Tripadvisor before visiting an attraction, but this time I'm glad we didn't. The number of negative comments posted may have put us off, but then again people who object to animals being contained or to paying a reasonable entry fee, aren't forced to visit wildlife parks. The troubling amount of "roadkill" we observed on the way to Richmond suggests the animals housed at Zoodoo are a darnsight safer than the natives.
"Zoodoo" was recommended to us but I wasn't to impressed... Feeding depressed lions little bits of meat with a bbq thong ... Really ?!?! The enclosures were all very basic , e.g the cockatoos had absolutely no stimulation in their cage. They start breeding zebras... God know why. The truck drive to feed the ostriches and camels is supposed to be fun I guess .. You might enjoy if you do enjoy that ostriches peck you . The play area for kids was closed down. Days later I still felt guilty contributing financially to this . If you really want to see a great zoo in Tasmania , visit nature world in Bicheno - it's true opposite of this place
We pulled up out the front of Zoodoo and were contemplating on whether to go in or not. We were told Zoodoo was really good but after arriving it really didnt look like much. As we were leaving Tas that afternoon we decided to go in so we didn't miss out on seeing a Tasmanian Devil. After paying for our tickets we walked around a shed full of farm animals that was extremely unimpressive. We continued to make our way outside and was happily surprised... they had monkeys, Tas devils, birds, meerkats, lizzards and manu more. Walking further up the back of the property we came accross horses, sheep, goats, kangaroos, camels, zebras and more. Zoodoo was more of a farm in some ways with some exotic animals scattered around but was well worth going. Would definitely recommend to friends.
Made the trip out from Hobart (30 minutes) to Zoodoo and had an absolute ball! Lots of hands on experiences available, hand feeding wallabies, emus, kangaroos and deer int he walk around area.A safari shuttle takes you up to see the larger animals and you get to feed ostriches and emus from the vehicle. The staff feed the camels, llamas and zebra while you get to pat them!.Lion feeding twice a day, and you get to feed them a piece of meat with tongs, no extra charge!! Fantastic experience, something you'd usually have to pay extra for.We also did tow of the wildlife encounters (extra cost), and got to go into the enclosure with the Marmosets and Meerkats and hand feed them meal worms. This was amazing, having the little monkeys climb all over you, two of them tried to operate my camera. We went as a couple, but this would be a great place to take the kids. It's not a super fancy zoo with huge facilities, but the hands-on experiences are unique.
Hands on and easy to navigate around the main areas. Food was available for purchase to feed the animals. We loved how we could be in amongst the animals and most loved us with food in our hands and didn't hesitate to come up in the farm yard! The safari bus tour was the highlight for us and the children loved it as the animals came up to us. The indoor playland was a wonderful find that the children enjoyed before leaving. A small gift shop and little coffee shop is available at the entrance.
We really wanted to see a Tassie Devil whilst in Tasmania and drove past a sign for the zoo and decided to go. Reasonable price at $25 each. Got to see the Meerkat feeding and Tassie Devil feeding. There were baby Tassie Devils on display and a petting zoo. Then went on a safari type bus and got to feed ostriches and see lots of other animals. Hot day, so the lions were sleeping. Staff were lovely. BBQ facilities available.
This Zoo is something special its hands on feeding the animals from Zebras to Lions. The guide new how to give you a very informative talk on all the animals in the Zoo. A great place if you have kids or are just looking to spend a couple of hours walking around.
I visited just last week with family from out of town. It was a fantastic day out with our girls (5 & 6yrs) and we didn't think overly expensive. We were lucky to be there on a not too busy day. It didn't feel crowded at all and it was great to wander among the animals and different exhibits. The kids loved seeing the devils and wombats. Being able to hand feed so many animals was a big highlight for them both. The Safari ride is an absolute hoot and must do. The emu feeding is hysterical with birds poking their heads in everywhere trying to get to the feed. My 5yr old was terrified, the 6yr old not so much. Haven't laughed so much in a long time. The lion feeding was great, very up close & personal.Re food though, take your lunch with you! They have a kiosk but think your local swimming pool circa 1980. Not much to choose from and expensive. They have BBQs, uncover seating and outdoor tables. All in all for us it was a fantastic day, highly recommend.
Brilliant day out. Enjoyed the close interaction with the animals, the lions were brilliant!!Staff were great and informative. This website came up when I Tryed to find prices for the zoo, http://myfun.com.au/zoo-doo-wildlife-parkChild $12Adult $22Senior $19.50Probably good to note these prices are wrong and that the correct prices are on their actual websitehttp://zoodoo.com.auChild $13Adult $25Senior $22
As above dirty and unhygienic in eating areasAnd in front of reception. The rest of the experienceWas quite good the kids had a great day And enjoyed the Bus.
Not overly cheap at $25 per head as it's not like some of the larger zoos in Australia but it is very hands-on .. you can hand feed the kangaroos, emus, deer, sheep and much more .. its just as good for the adults as it is for children .. adults scream almost as much as the kids when hand feeding the animals .. you can also hand feed (almost) the lions .. just note though at this time the tigers have moved on .. my friend from Indonesia loved it.
Some reviews say it's expensive, but the kids loved this special day out and the animals are wonderful! Staff are knowledgable, happy and friendly! Food choices are limited. Farm nursery is brilliant, heaps of hands on experiences from rabbits to zebras!!! A definite on our next trip to Hobart area!!!
