Dropped in here on a whim while out with a group of mokes - and so glad I did. warm wonderful people, delightful setting and great wine and cider. Not cheap but all quality. The bubbleduck was fantastic - and I could not resist the wild cider. Next time Im back in Tassie I will be by with a picnic hamper :)
We cam here on a wine tour and it was my favourite winery of the day. They were still building the new extension so we sat outside by the lake watching the ducks being fed. We thoroughly enjoyed the cheeses and wines that we sampled as well as the history of how Puddleduck came to be. Well worth a visit.
They were in a bit of a flutter with the new premises having only just been completed, but they more than made up for any disorder with super friendly staff (Jackie herself served us) and truly delicious wines! If you like proper champagne, try the bubbleduck (a fun name for an amazing sparkling). And the verjuice... Who knew you could drink it when it's made from premium wines (rather than just cook with it as I had thought).I've stocked up the car and will be ordering deliveries to Melbourne in the future (or perhaps it's a good excuse for a return visit to this lovely part of the world)!
We visited Puddleduck and were delighted by the winery staff and the wines. It is situated on a farm with a huge pond and there are yellow ducks everywhere. The owners were very friendly and it was a fun place to visit. We bought 2 bottles of wine here and enjoyed them later on our trip.
Spent a few hours here with my Mum over a couple of glasses of Puddleduck Bubbleduck. We took our own food (mostly from the Wicked Cheese Company down the road), Puddeduck generously provided plates, cutlery and entertainment from Lucky Duck and Polly Dog. Also, I'm sure we met the whole family and they were all super lovely! Would be great for a family/friends picnic, afternoon with the kids, a romantic afternoon with your loved one or even a girls afternoon out. Book a driver/cab if you can, the wine is great!!
Currently being renovated and expanded, so be prepared, but our welcome was still warm and the cider tasting we did was unhurried, friendly and informative. Wine available to taste as well. Locally owned and operated. Close to Hobart airport and lovely Richmond village.
The Vineyard was a nice visit but I expected more from the reviews and photos online. I came through and I loved the ducks all over the place but unfortunately the service didn't buy me. We were set to pay for the pricey wine tasting but I got to taste one wine every 10 minutes. Unfortunately it took out the enjoyment. It was busy for the poor lady to be a waitress and serve a tasting at the same time. I would still come back to visit but on a less busier day. They have a ciders tasting which was new to me, that I really liked about this Vineyards =)
We arrived at this beautiful winery just as the quacking ducks and 2 visiting geese swam and waddled to shore for a feed. Very cute. The winery is going through a refurbishment process but the warmth of staff and the quirkiness of ducks, both real and ornamental, still allows visitors to enjoy. The new building additions will only further enhance a very quaint and pleasant experience. Nice wines too!
What a fantastic afternoon spent at the fabulous Puddle Duck vineyard. After tasting some amazing wines together with Darren and Jackie adding info about the wines and other tid bits about the Tassie wine industry we then headed outside to enjoy a magnificent cheese platter with a beautiful bottle of Pinot. We will most certainly be back down soon to enjoy the end result of the renos being currently done. I'm sure it will be perfect as was our afternoon. Thanks for the fantastic afternnon all :-)
Stopped on a recent visit to Hobart. With the cheese and biscuits we had purchased at the Wicked Cheese Factory down the road we were shown to a table in a marquee beside the duck pond. The building is undergoing renovations but was no inconvenience at all and the friendly staff helped us settle in and brought plates and cutlery. Their wine was fantastic, well chilled and served with nice glasses and ice bucket. There was a terrific storm and we were safe and dry in the marquee. They have big cushions etc for children to play on and they ask not to,feed the overweight dog as she is on a diet. We also nought apricots to take with us and they were lucipus.
Loved this vineyard, as it is a small boutique winery but best of all the wines are stella! Just beautiful. Whilst wines are like art in the sense it is very personal, however I thought your wine was on the money :-) thank you!
I come here every time I visit Tasmania. I think the wines are fabulous, the staff are really friendly and they obviously love what they do. The winery offers you the opportunity to BYOF (bring your own food) which can make it the perfect place for a long lunch. Their selections of wine are definitely worth trying and I always walk away with a couple. Cannot recommend this place enough!!
Stunning views, the ducks are near by, the local dogs say hello. Wine tastings and not expensive either. The staff are very pleasant and helpful and the wine is fantastic. On your way to Richmond village drop in. They are extending the venue at the moment but this does not interfere with tastings. You do not have to do the tastings, just buy a glass of their wine.
Puddleduck Vineyard was a lovely experience - particularly as the service at some of the other local wineries had not been great. The staff were very friendly and personable, and the variety of wines was simply excellent. I took home 3 bottles of lovely wine!! Time was pressing - as always - and the vineyard is undergoing some new construction work, but the friendly and helpful staff - plus the delicious wines - made it a very nice place to visit. I must go back and see it when the building work is finished.
What a great place to visit. The wines are fantastic and the owners and staff are so down to earth and friendly. Thank god I live on the mainland or I think this place would become my second home.Sitting out on the grass with a glass of their sensational Pinot wine and a tasty cheese platter, watching the duck swim around their beautiful dam..... Life couldn't get much better, if your lucky you might even get a visit from Molly the dog or Lucky the friendly duck.Thank you Michelle for the great conversation and all your hope.My fingers will be crossed that my blue rubber Ducky wins the big race in Feb.
