We enjoyed visiting Mount Felix Vineyard and Winery. We did the dry tasting and chatted it up with employees and fellow guests. A nice experience.
We stopped shortly before closing on a Sunday, but Mary in the tasting room was happy to help and show us 4 of her wines. Very interesting story, and really nice wines! The prices were so reasonable, we bought 2 bottles!
I truly enjoyed visiting this winery. The wines are excellent, the employees are very friendly and entertaining and the vineyard is lovely. I will visit again for another tasting and to restock my wine supply.
My wife and I decided to take an anniversary trip to Havre de Grace and decided to make this our first stop on the way to our Bed and Breakfast....the intent was for a quick stop.....well we met Pete, Mary (the owners), and Cindy (running the tasting room) and ended up spending two hours chatting and tasting. Just a wonderful family working and enjoying what they do together. We tried everything on the tasting menu and left with some favorites. Loved the Mitchell's Manor and Cranato. The view from the patio was wonderful. We also had the chance to taste another one Pete's unreleased wine.....yummy (we won't give it away). Pete hustled inside for a few minutes and prepped a very special anniversary label for our gift bottle of wine from Mt. Felix. We had a blast and will certainly be returning for picnics on the patio.
We had a great tasting of semi-sweet to sweet white wines and my fiance' and I agred on purchasing a plum mange blend.
We tried the tasting and brought home a few bottles. They seem to be a new winery that has yet to define a true definition of what they wish to accomplish. I feel that all of the wines have the same aftertaste that reminds me of fortified malts. To enhance the tastings, the server offered fruits to make the sensation of "cranberry and vodka". Well, I am drinking wine, not a mixed drink with juice. Chocolate was another ancillary to enhance. Yes, wine can be paired with other tastes, but wine should be an experience by itself. This was an experience. The view of the Susquehanna was nice. I really liked the cows (from the other farm) greeting us as we drove up the lane!
We visited here to do a tasting one afternoon. Their wines were on the dryer side, but they had a few unique offerings like pumpkin and a cranberry blend. It was fun to try something so different and we wound up buying both to have on Thanksgiving. If you make the trip up here, I recommend bringing food and enjoying the view and some wine at their outdoor tables. The owner did our tasting and she was friendly and informative.
We stopped at the Winery on a beautiful Saturday afternoon in September after attending a local harvest festival. After the delicious tastings, our family sat on the patio overlooking the winery. The view of the Chesapeake Bay in the background was beautiful. Mary, the owner, came over to chat with us about how the grapes were being harvested as we were enjoying our wine. Our daughter played with her very laid-back dog while we chatted. It was a beautiful afternoon at Mt Felix Winery. We will be back with friends and family in the near future.
My husband and I decided to stop by the winery on our way home to Virginia after visiting Philadelphia. We were the only ones in the tasting room and Mary, one of the owners took care of us. We had our choice of a Dry Flight tasting or a Sweet Flight tasting for $5.00, or a combination of both for $10.00. We chose to taste all. We liked all the wines we tasted and purchased a few bottles to take home. We especially liked the idea of heating the Terra Maria, a sweet, pumpkin spice wine, for a beverage before Thanksgiving dinner. Mary was a delight and we had fun talking to her. Don't miss the outside view.
I am not a wine aficionado, but my wife is, so we visit local wineries when we have a chance. We enjoyed our visit to the Mt. Felix Vineyard. It's a very nice property, the wines were good and it was an enjoyable experience. Since we're local, we plan to return regularly. The have a patio with a very nice view where we can bring a picnic lunch and enjoy their wines either by the bottle or by the glass.
As Virginia wine lovers, we are always willing to take 5 minutes and swing by a local winery to check out their wines. On a trip down 95 from Philadelphia to home in the DC metro area, we followed the "local attraction" sign to Mt. Felix. It's about 5 minutes off of 95, easy to find and the view driving in is spectacular. If you have ever traveled 95 from Wilmington to Baltimore, you have crossed the Tydings Bridge which has spectacular views up and down the Susquehanna River (for the passenger since the driver is concentrating on the road). Think of this view but a hundred feet higher and you have the view driving in. Once there the views are equally beautiful, although the tasting room could stand a larger window. We tasted their reds and whites, many of which were quite good. We relaxed with a glass each and enjoyed the view on this somewhat cloudy and chilly day. We did buy two bottles also. We are looking forward to returning in nicer (warmer) weather and sampling again.
We finally got to Mount Felix after being told by a number of friends to try it for a tasting. Mary, the owner, was quite personable, as other reviewers have noted. We talked about mutual friends and enjoyed an "it's a small world" exchange. We loved the charming tasting room, in what was once a pump house. Great view of the bay, albeit somewhat in the distance. We enjoyed the wines, especially a dry called Black Jack (medium dry red with a finish of spices and pepper) and a sweet that has Chocolate-Cherry notes--served with a cherry cordial. Prices are reasonable for the complexity and satisfaction of the wine. It was 48 degrees and sunny on this April visit--unseasonably chilly--but we dressed properly and following the tasting sat outside with a glass of wine looking at the lovely view. Mary turned on some music--Romantic, Italian--that wafted from a speaker in a magnificent tree near us. It was a perfect little trip to become acquainted with a local attraction. We came home with our souvenir glasses and several bottles and a great feeling of experiencing brisk air, good wine, some sunshine, and a new acquaintance. It doesn't get much better than that, does it?
We like sweet wine and found that most of the wine was dry/bitter. If you like drier wines you will love this place. I liked the atmosphere though and the chocolate cherry wine was pretty good.
I have been travelling with my family in USA for 10 days. We have had great time. But in the memory of my children and my wife will always remain the great hospitality received in Mount Felix Vineyard & Winery (and I want to add) & Suite!Peter, Mary and all the family have reserved us a great welcome. We have really enjoyed our stay, the food and the great wine. The location is great and the view is spectacular.Peter is incredible. It has been great to see how he is proud of his Italian origins and how much passion is putting in his job.You cannot miss this place if you drive on the I-95 and you are nearby Havre de Grace.
I dragged my non-wine drinking boyfriend here and he walked out with 2 bottles of wine. They offer 2 samplers, a 5 wine and a 7 wine. One is the dries and the other the sweets, but I can't recall which is which. I had the their dry wine sampler, which I enjoyed. My boyfriend had the sweets, which he LOVED. Several of the sweets are fruit wines, ie. pumpkin and cherry (both of which he purchased). This was a bit more interesting than you usually see.Beware, there are no toilets, just a port-a-potty, in summer, you get the hint. Regarding the previous review, the owner will tell you the real story, and it is posted no pets allowed.
