For anyone who's missing Chestertown's longtime bookstore, at the corner of High Street and S. Cross, the Book Plate is like filling in a missing tooth. At heart a book shop that sells secondhand books, you can still find new releases, somewhat selectively, and the store goes on forever, beautifully organized and offering lots of great options. It's not a great place for a shopping list; it's better when you're not sure what you want and want to be inspired.We also love the gorgeous collection of Portuguese ceramics; we didn't see any items as lovely as these on our recent trip to Portugal!

This is an excellent used bookstore -- well-organized, clean, staffed by friendly people! One does not always see this winning combination in bookstores used or otherwise, so this was a delightful find. I definitely will be back next time I am in Chestertown. Added bonus: a discount on a new book!

This could be a sought after movie set for a used bookstore. Tom is expanding to the space next door, so by autumn '14 there will be added selection and aisle space. More storefront also means more golden Maryland light slanting through those clearstory windows.Extensive Eastern Shore, travel and nautical sections. Balance this with novels reaching back centuries, first editions and author signed copies. Just being in Chestertown, strolling the sidewalks, stopping in the friendly merchants, is calming.

This little gem was a serendipitous finding for me! Absolutely the best organized collection that I have found and I haunt book stores. All the shelves are well marked an organized - yes there are a few stacks yet to be shelved but that is part of the fun. Fantastic collection of world HISTORY which is my forte; but there is a room full of fiction and a wide ranging collection of every other topic. Most notably a larger than average section on the Arabs and middle east. I must return to explore some more.
