Went to see The Male Intellect: An Oxymoron on Valentine's day with my boyfriend. The theater was intimate, but it was comfortable and good views from anywhere in the theater. It was a great and funny show. I'd definitely check out other performances or comedy shows there.

been here several times. I really enjoy going. They have some great shows and alot of times you can get really reasonably priced tickets.

For my husband's birthday, I got us tickets to see Paul D'Angelo at City Stage. We received an email from City Stage a few days before the event, containing restaurant and parking information, as well as directions. We live 30 minutes away, so this information was great to have.Couldn't have been easier getting off and on Rt 91 and getting to the recommended parking garage. Waiting in the lobby before the doors opened was pleasant; they sold a nice variety of drinks and snacks. The venue is arranged such that there is no bad seat.We enjoyed the show so much we now have tickets to see the next comedian, who happens to be appearing on our wedding anniversary!

If you enjoy intimate performances, instead of those over crowded bars or stadium venues, then this is place to go. I've seen several shows there this passed year and it has been quite enjoyable. The prices are comparable for a venue that seats only a couple of hundred people. The only draw back, may be that you do sit a little to close to one another. At times, it does feel a little cramped. I guess if you enjoy going to Fenway to watch a game, then this closeness won't bother you. The acoustics and sound system are very good in there and it does make for a nice night out and you may have two choices for safe, secure parking. Some of the shows comp your parking at Tower Square or you can pay a nominal fee and park at the City Stage garage.

Clean, reasonable, easy parking. Pretty good view from most seats..

If there's a show you want to see, this is a great spot to see it.

I am partial to small playhouses that offer an intimate atmosphere, because, in my opinion, physical proximity helps observers to connect with actors, and thus feel a character's true emotions. Luckily, this is exactly such a theatre!City Stage is so small that there is not a bad seat in the house. It features a modern atmosphere in which you are right there with the actors. Beckett would've loved this theatre design, in my opinion. My one criticism for City Stage would be to take on some more boundary-pushing plays - whether old or new. In the past few years, its play selection has lagged slightly; however, City Stage will receive a new artistic director next season, and it could mean a return to the avante-garde.Regardless, City Stage is just as much a part of Springfield's "City Fantastique" as the SSO, the boisterous Club Quarter, or the mega-events at the MassMutual Center. It's a truly great venue to boot.
