sturbridge host hotel & conference center lounge

We arrived at the hotel after a long drive all day to be met by what looked like a 50's revival in the lobby. We checked in & the receptionist was less than friendly & when he said to us to enjoy our stay he couldn't have sounded less interested. The pool area was a strange layout. The room was clean & we had a balcony which overlooked the lake at the back but the security if the patio door was not very good as one good rock of the door from the outside would have dislodged the security pole. It could be that we did not see this hotel in it's better light but I can't say that we would repeat the experience to find out.

Hotel room is very clean. Beds are ok. was there for one night, went to bar for dinner and drinks. Dinner was average. Drinks were ok.

Nice location located on Cedar Pond with easy access from Massachusetts Turnpike and Interstate 84. The staff did a fantastic job making sure our conference room met our needs and exceeded our expectations. The business lunch was exceptionally good; nice selection to choose from, well prepared, delivered on time, and very efficiently handled by the staff. Excellent facility for a business meeting.

I recently attended an all day conference that was for educational purposes. I have been to conferences there before and have attended many years of events there. I do agree that the place needs to be renovated and some equipment needs to be replaced. I do want to give kudos to the staff who prepare and service the conference rooms. The food that was served buffet style was great. There were beef and chicken dishes, cold cut platters, cheeses and a great salad along with different type of breads and rolls. They served a Continental breakfast when we arrived that was a good variety. All in all it was much better than I usually get at other conference centers that I have been to. I did have a report from one of my sisters about the bar staff when she went to the bar one time and never went back. The staff there was very rude as others have said and I believe it is the young staff there that don't have a clue how to attend to the respect and " service they should provide." My sister said that the bartender, (young male) was too busy hanging out in the kitchen area with the other young people laughing and fooling around. The conference people I encountered were mature individuals who cared about doing what is expected.

Enjoyed the Oxtail Tavern, and overlooking the lake in the amDisliked the outdated feel and the need to freshen things up

Just okay. We're still waiting for the Sturbridge lodges to reopen as this hotel doesn't really offer much in the way of New England atmosphere.
