Stopped into Travessia with my husband, my cousin and her husband last weekend. We entered the tasting area and was half-heatedly greeted by the employee. The tasting area was quite full and there seemed to be only one person working the entire floor. We sampled the 5 wines on hand, felt rushed and never really got too much information from the employee. We were less than impressed with all of the wines as well as the service. It is unfortunate because it is a nice atmosphere!

We stopped at winery, located in New Bedford, on one of the cobblestone streets near the water. It's a beautiful little city with a plethora of highly recommended restaurants. We were warmly welcomed into the winery. They do not grow any of their own grapes. They import them from local wineries and from California. For an extra fee you could also have a cheese or chocolate pairing with your tasting and we chose the chocolate. They use locally made gourmet Mexican chocolate and it is delicious. This winery is community driven, they are knowledgeable and the wines are delicious. We left with a hybrid red and a dry rose...which sounds like a contradiction but it was delicious and since we prefer dry wines perfect for us and the summer heat. Definitely a place worth visiting for a nice outing and some good wines.

Visited on a Sunday afternoon and was pleasantly surprised to find this in the heart of New Bedford. Grapes are grown locally but all wine making and bottling is done on site. All wines that we sampled we excellent (Chardonnay, Riesling, Rose, Jester Red, J Port). Tasting room was lovely with a classy atmosphere. Average price of bottles were $18 - $25. Reasonable for the quality. I definitely recommend.

We love Travessia! It's a can't miss if you are nearby. Highly recommended! Try the Vidal Blanc. Best in the region. Marco and Jen are fantastic.

New Bedford is such a wonderful New England city.Travessia features locally grown wines that are decidedly delicious. I really loved the staff! She was very knowledgable and even suggested a wonderful Thai restaurant nearby (Spicy Lime) that was top notch and featured local wine and beer. Urban Winery Extraordinaire!

We happened here by chance and were most delighted by the delicious wine that we tasted. Marco does a remarkable job making the wine in a small storefront winery adjacent to the tasting room. We especially liked the whites, although we normally prefer only red wine. The Vidal Blanc was outstanding and the unoaked Chardonnay extremely crisp and clear. The reds were also quite respectable. We returned the following day to retaste with a local chocolate pairing and liked the wine equally on the second try. Not one person left the tasting without purchasing a bottle or two (or more!) New Bedford has a lot to offer in the way of things to do--there are many art galleries and decent restaurants. Travessia is one more reason to make a visit. Don't miss it!

This was a little tough to access at first, with the construction, detours and traffic. But the effort was worth it. The rep for this winery was great. Very knowledgeable about the production, producer and the wines. She made you feel at ease while sampling their selections and you left there feeling you were appreciated for coming and she talked to you, not at you. We didn't get a chance to tour the facility, but the tasting itself was fine. I really enjoy a rich bold red, but I found myself, as well as my wife, enjoying their Vidal Blanc and their Rose`, as a matter of fact, we returned home with a bottle of each. New Bedford is trying to make a come back and if this is what they are trying to use to turn that corner, then they are on the right path. If you are in the area, it is worth the stop.

Travessia is conveniently located in the Historic District of New Bedford, within walking distance to local businesses and attractions. They are best known for their white wines made from Southcoast Pinot grapes. New vintages have moved into the reds. My favorites are the Vidal Blanc and the Rose. Stop in for a tour of the store and winery on Purchase Street.
