The view from the top is incredible. A great place to have a picnic with family or just relax for some fresh air.
We went to watch the sunset. It was a cloudy night so it took away from the experience however it was still a beautiful sight. People bring wine and snacks and go up and watch the sunset. We drove to the top. It takes about 20-30 minutes and there are a bunch of scenic stops all the way. Absolutely worth a visit if you are in the Berkshires.
During the fall foliage season you can't find a better spot to view in the Berkshires colors. Mount Greylock being the highest point in Massachusetts. A perfect spot to relax with glass of wine at the lodge at the peak.
Call in to the visitor centre and collect your information. The roads are really well kept, with lots of overlooks, viewpoints and walking trails. At the top there are terrific views of the foliage.
Mt. Greylock is such a great state park that has a friendly, informative visitor center and a wonderful network of hiking trails. The roads are well maintained and there are road signs to warn drivers of potential hikers crossing the road (safety first). The only slightly confusing feature of the trails is that all of the trail markers seem to be in varying shades of blue. The Bradley Farm trail has a medium sea blue trail marker while a hiking trail that intersects has a slightly paler shade of blue. It was a little confusing at times. Aside that from, the trails themselves are very well marked. No matter where you are on a trail you can spot a trail marker up ahead to keep you on track (just make sure it's the correct shade of blue).
Came up yesterday for a nice ride for CT! Drove up from the Adams side for the first time in over 15 years. Lots of great viewpoints and overlooks for some great sightlines! Got to the top and walked around for awhile. We were not dressed for hiking so we stayed on flat ground but really enjoyed the foliage at its peak. Really worth the drive for sure. Busy up here but a lot of fun. Did have some snow flurries before we headed down the other side to Lanesboro. The re-construction of the roads a few years ago did an amazing job fixing it. Should be a must-see for anybody in the area.$2 to park normally but nobody was collecting yesterday.
Plenty of hiking trails ... Great views... We drove up to the summit and took a bunch of cool photos... Check it out !! ... Just don't ride your brakes the entire way down the mountain cars hate that... Lol... Enjoy
The weather was perfect for a drive up here. The visitor centre recommend some short walks available and we did one en route. We did Rounds Rock which only took 30 minutes. Good viewpoints but a queue for the car park at the top on a busy weekend. The tunnel like effect of the trees with the autumn colour showed off this part of New England at its best.
Every inch of the 8 Mile drive was worth the trip. Beautiful views on the way and from the top. Lot of hiking trails if you are up to it. Highly recommended. Small entry (parking) fee.
We hiked up the Money Brook Trail, and came down the Hopper. This is a very good way to do it--took about 6 hours, and we saw almost no one except on the top. Parking is at the end of Hopper Road (NOT on the road you drive up one--I was misled by a website). If you don't have a good map you can get one at the visitor center which IS on the summit road--there are so many trails it can be confusing so really worthwhile to have a decent map. Money Brook is steep in places.
We loved the trail walk to the top. Beautiful scenery to hike through then the monument appears. Its also interesting taking a look into the walker's shelter.
This place is a must stop for me every time, only no time after November because the road to the top in closed. Dogs allowed off leash on trails but once in public areas and parking areas keep on leash and safe :) great peices of history and monuments to enhance the unbelievable views...drive up is steep at times but give lookout points :) enjoy
the drive up the mountain is not to steep is a nice climb. the summit is truly wonderful, the vies are outstanding, the tower on top was closed but that did not diminish the beauty of the place. there is also a old lodge on top that is avaible to stay at. there is also a resturant in the lodge. well worth the drive up.
Absolutely beautiful. The whole area is beautiful. Not to mention it is pretty close to where my son is attending college so.....The memorial tower was closed but the views from the summit were breathtaking. The weather was sunny but hazy. Would have awesome to see on a clear day. Will definitely go back some day.
We drove to Mt Greylock from Williamstown and be aware the Sat Nav took us down Quarry Road, talk about off roading....avoid going that way. We didn't go for the hiking just to walk around the top for the views which are stunning, and so peaceful up,there. A photographers dream. The Tower is closed to 2016 for renovation.Be aware the Rest Rooms are chemical free and composting type so not for the faint hearted,Also a shame we went to the lodge for a coffee and was not ideal seeing the "cook". In a dirty grey vest preparing the food, did spoil the appetite. However if you are just going for the views then no problem.
