If you are a Pearl Buck fan, this place is for you, although she only lived here from birth to three months of age--not counting visits back here from China! The docent who conducted our tour of the home, which was really Pearl Buck's mother's home growing up, was a walking encyclopedia on Buck's family tree. The tour, costing $5 for seniors, took a good hour and a half and features the craftsmanship of Pearl's forbears, family items, and momentos and books of Pearl.. It could be a bit overkill if you are not impressed with Pearl Buck; but who's like that?

We just stopped to get a picture of the house but decided to see everything and it was very much worth the entry fee. Our docent (tour guide) was very knowledgable of the history and provided us with an awesome tour. She was most interesting and loved what she was doing!! We were so glad we stopped and ventured in as Pearl S. Buck was a remarkable woman and learning more about her was a pleasure.

My 88 year-old mother and I toured the home in September. The docent was wonderfully accommodating and furnished some special parking and seating for her. She was a delight and she was very informative. Mom has at least 40 books by Pearl Buck and we found out we can donate those books to the Foundation and they can sell them in their bookstore. Finding this out gave my mom some comfort knowing that her collection will do some good. Do check the hours, and come when they are open and have a delightful time. Fee is $5 for Seniors...$6 otherwise. Beautiful setting and very convenient.

Beautiful area and it was fun to poke around. We went late in the day so it wasn't open to tour. The house looks interesting and learned a lot about Pearl Buck

Went to Green Bank, WV, to the Quiet Zone and on the way back wanted to check out Pearl Buck's birthplace. Got there only to find it is not open on Wednesday, the day we were there. Disappointing. Then again, this isn't really her birthplace since the house had been dismantled at its original site and reconstructed on this one. Don't know if the original site is nearby or not. Could peek in the windows but otherwise not much to see or do there.

For starters I should say that I had absolutely no clue to Pearl S. Buck was and the only reason we stopped here was because the house looked so intriguing. I was pleasantly surprised to find out who Pearl was and it was a very interesting tour of the house. I believe the tour lasted about 45 minutes. The house is very interesting and has a few pieces that really make the house unique. If you have an hour and are in the area you should check out this little piece of history.

A small house but it is full of period items from the Buck family. The volunteer guides are very knowledgeable and enjoy answering your questions.

This is a off the path jewel. We had a individual tour guide that was very informed about the house and furnishings. The tour was reasonably priced and lasted about an hour. Al so on the property is the relocated homeplace of Bucks grandfather which you tour on your on before the guided house tour begins, but if you have any questions they are more than happy to answer them. The house doesnt look like much from the highway but it is full of period furniture and items collected by Ms. Buck over her lifetime. This is well worth a stop. It is open May-October. The birthplace is in private hands so we gave a small donation at the gift shop to help out.
