I live in the mountains of West Virginia, so I should have known. It was 63 in Lewisburg, but there were several inches of snow at Beartown and the ice on the boardwalk was slick.First time there and the rock formations were very unique. Little disappointing that you could not climb all over them like at Seneca Rocks, but these did have very nice moss and ferns that would be destroyed the first month if people were allowed off the boardwalk. Groves in the back of the top railing of the board walk was a great idea to help grip the board; especially when it was so icy.

My husband and I just came back last weekend, but I already plan to go there next summer. Beautiful view, even though there are many steps, it is so easy to walk through. We loved it!

This state park preservation idea is most unique! The raised boardwalk allowed us to see the unique sandstone rock structures and to walk around and near them. The trees and ferns were beautiful.

Our first time to visit!! Great place, easy to get to off Rt 219. Visited in fall. Caution for slippery leaves. Don't wear shoes that don't have good traction. Would like to visit in spring.

This is one of the most fascinating places that I have ever been. I'm so glad we stopped here and walked the boardwalk. The rocks and crevices are amazing. I couldn't stop taking pictures and I imagine that a lot of critters seek shelter in those crevices and caves. Do yourself a favor and visit this gem, you will not be disappointed!

This park is a walk through rock formation and nature. Imagination can run wild. Walkways are very easy to navigate just a little slippery in some places when wet. Loved everything about this park and a must see on your list of things to do in the valley.

The boardwalk allows you to walk out over some amazing rock formations. We hoped to see a bear but we didn't get that lucky.

This park is beautiful. There are boardwalk paths and the mountains and trees are beautiful. Do not miss this stop. Man I wish I was back again.

I have lived in WV all of my life and have visited numerous wildlife areas. Somehow have never seen this place until we ran up on a weekend visit to Cranberry Glades area in Pocahontas County. I would rate this as a top #1 on a must see visit in WV and Dolly Sods has dropped now to my 2nd favorite. Maybe this is due to never seeing this park before. IT only takes about an hour at shortest to walk around, but could definitely spend more time there especially if you love picture taking. My dog went on this trip as well and loved it. You won't find much information on this place, so just go see the "WOW" for yourself. Also, has wheelchair access road, but I didn't drive down it.

Nice leg stretcher around rock outcroppings. Beartown was very interesting. Could really use your imagination and see the bears etc wintering in the caves

We came across this park after the Highland Scenic Highway drive on our way back to Fayetteville and what a incredible surprise. It's a labyrinth of super sturdy boardwalks and stairs winding through small gorges, caverns and rock outcroppings covered in trees, ferns and moss. Extremely green, fresh and cool. This is an easy walk, all on boardwalks with few stairs and the views are amazing. Unlike any other park or hike we have seen in this area. Do not miss it.

One of the most unique parks I've ever visited. If you are in the area, don't miss it. It only takes about an hour to walk all the boardwalks, stop and drink in the cool, refreshing air under the tree canopy and just totally relax in this beautiful place. The rock and moss formations are awesome! You will love taking pics here!

Beartown is one of those places that if you are within 100 miles you need to see this place. I was there early morning in the fall and the sun had not yet burned off all the fog. It was a really cool experience plus I did not see another soul. Lots of birds and small game animals. Very relaxing and enjoyable place.

Not necessarily for families with little ones due to the terrain, Beartown will however be a great adventure to older children. There are no entrance or admission fees to visit and enjoy Beartown State Park.
