I shared the Last Chance Ranch experience with 55 friends from all across the US and Canada. It was an awesome evening of a fun wagon ride, amazing food and entertainment - good old fashioned Montana hospitality. Everyone is still raving about it!! Thanks to Bruce and crew for the great Montana memories!
We had a wonderful time at Last Chance Ranch. The salad, homemade rolls, prime rib, new baby potatoes and Montana succotash( with corn, zucchini, green beans, etc.) was sumptuous. And the huckleberry cheesecake tasted like more. We went there on a mystery dinner with our travel club (which is soon going to be closed down:( drat!) Our host sang songs he wrote himself, played guitar and told stories. After dinner we went outside, and he sang some more and told more stories. It was a great time. It would be fun to go again sometime. You ride on an old school bus to get there. It takes about twenty minutes. Then you climb on to a horse drawn carrier and the draft horses take you up to the restaurant. It was great enjoying the open air, meeting new people and watching the deer in the woods. I would recommend this outing to anyone who loves down home hospitality, good cooking and homegrown entertainment. Using the outhouse is a step into the past.
I can't thank Bruce and his crew enough for the wonderful evening. There were seventeen grandchildren/nieces/nephews and eleven adults in our group and we ALL had a fabulous time. Good food(and plenty of it), gorgeous setting, and a great time!
I have been a Helena resident for several years and had always heard about Last Chance Ranch Dinners. It wasn't until my parents came for a visit from Boston that I decided I needed to indulge in the very best. The evening was more then I could have hoped for; the excitement of the draft horses with heavy harnesses jingling, the wonderful food, and the friendly, easy nature of Bruce and his crew. My parents were thrilled and speak of it often. They were totally enchanted with Bruce's music and brought back CDs to Boston! I would highly recommmend this for anyone. Bring a coat for the evening fire. This is a wonderful, not to be replicated, evening in Montana!
My wife and I were planners for a 100-person convention. The Last Chance was an event for people who chose not to golf. About 30 people attended and everyone was well satisfied -- great food, a fun excursion to and from the cabin, and (the best part) -- an entertaining and congenial host, Bruce Anfinson, who should be more famous than he is. We probably got more positive comments from our attendees on this event than anything else at our convention. Highly recommended.
A group of us went on this ride. Loved the cowboy singing and stories. Not so enchanted with the dust. Unfortunately, we couldn't sing around the campfire because fires were banned in August. The food was great.
Went on this trip by comments on TA. Excellent choice. Went to the woods on a horse drawn ride. Had a wonderful plentiful meal! Can't say enough good things about it. Listened to Bruce sing with the mountains in the background. We bought a CD and listening to it brings back good memories! I loved the area and would do it again.
My first horse drawn wagon ride!! Really enjoied the experience, great food and great company! Montana summers are chilly, take a jacket/coat!! Bring your own beverages!!!
Our whole family had such a great time, the food was fresh and well prepared...Bruce has a way with words and music and makes you feel right at home on his beautiful mountain property...we would all love to do this again in the future.
What a great evening! The food was wonderful, the service was excellent, and the entertainment was a real treat! We would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a fun evening in the Helena area!
My husband and I went with a couple from Helena for an evening ride up the mountain in a truck, and a brief ride around the bend in a horse-drawn wagon. We weren't sure what to expect. Would it be hokey? Would the food be so-so? Would the entertainment be cheesy?None of these questions were what we experienced. The food was GREAT, the entertainment was EXCELLENT, and the whole experience wasn't hokey at all. It was unique, quaint and very memorable. The brothers who run the place were gracious, friendly and engaging. The musician brother, Bruce, is an outstanding guitar player and song-writer. We so enjoyed hearing his songs, stories and jokes. This is an experience I'll always treasure.
One of the funnest night we have had in a really long time. Food and entertainment were excellent. Would recommend to anyone. It is a must do.
We enjoyed taking our family from out of town to Last Chance Ranch where Bruce took us up the mountain on a horse drawn wagon. We went up into the mountain where they prepared a prime rib dinner "Montana Style". It was a night we'll never forget. Our family still talks about it.
