I visited this winery with my mother-in-law during a recent trip to KY. It is small, but very nice. There is a fee of a couple dollars for a tasting and you get to sample several wines. I enjoyed their Cabernet and they had a very nice chocolate wine called Choca-Con. I noticed that someone came in with a Groupon for a party of four. It's worth a visit.
This winery was located just up the road from the Bullitt County Fairgrounds where we attended Wine Fest, so we decided this would be a great place to visit. The wine tasting was very nice. They have several varieties to sample including their Honey Bear Mead. The tasting room was very nice and their gift shop contained several nice items. The tasting was $5, but sadly no souvenir glass with the purchase of a tasting. Very nice place to visit, near the interstate, easy to find.
Forest Edge is a very nice small winery located very close to I-65 south of Louisville. The tasting room/gift shop is very well appointed and well stocked with all of their wines. While I like all their wine, I am particularly fond of their Honey Bear Mead. If you've never had mead trying it is a must! Their wines are reasonably priced for a small farm winery and in addition to discounts for 3/6/12 bottles they offer a substantial discount to military personnel. The winery makes a great companion stop if you are visiting the Jim Beam American Stillhouse just down the road. The staff has always been very attentive and friendly when I have visited. If you like to visit small wineries this place shouldn't disappoint.
On a recent visit to Bardstown, KY, we stopped at Forest Edge Winery. Very nice inside! The people were awesome that poured our tastes of wine. We received several tastes of wine for our money. The gift shop had several cute items. They also give to several charities. Definitely recommend stopping if you are in the area!
Nice wines, nice tasting room, knowledgeable staff. They even have a special children's area for families with smaller children. My favorites: Summer Daze, Berrylicious, Rendezvous, Bluegrass Blend, Zoey Rose, Chocca-Con, & Lovespell.
My wife and I stopped in while spending a weekend in Louisville. The winery is just a quick shot down I-65 from the airport and well worth the side trek. Their wine is not produced on site, but the tasting room/gift shop is bright, cheery, and well-stocked. We were warmly greeted by Jennifer, who gave us her undivided attention as she walked us through Forest Edge's varieties and gave us her recommendations. She was spot-on, and we left with a couple of very tasty choices. Highly recommended for those exploring Kentucky's wine trail.
All the wines we tasted were flavorful, but my favorite was the red zinfandel. We have been there several times and all the staff are friendly and helpful. They also have a small gift shop with some really cute items. Another nice thing about the owners is they give back to charities in the community
Small but neat and clean. Have many samples to taste. But you choose 4. Not expensive wine. New tastes. Purchase grapes throughout the country to make wine.
ducked in to wait out a rainstorm. The staff was very nice, helpful about area, and we got some great wine!
Very close to the Jim Bean Distillery so if your on the Bourbon Trail make a stop by this small winery. Friendly staff offer wine tastings in their "gift shop" and you won't be disappointed with the taste! I'm sure you'll leave with at least one...or two....purchases!
