On a recent visit to Kennebunkport my wife and I went to the Wells Reserve. What a pleasant surprise. The reserve is easily reached and just a fun place to hike. We went snow-shoeing and took the Beach trail. The trail was just right for a very cold day. Approx. 1/2 a mile and it brought you right to the ocean. There were other trails that you could explore and we hope to do that on a future visit. The people in the Visitor's Center were quite friendly and helpful when asking about the trails and other local areas. I highly recommend a visit here for couples or families.

7 miles of trails! You have woods walks, open meadow walks, marsh views, access to beach. Birders will love this, a wide variety of them. Meadows have the monarch butterflies in the warmer months, beach goers can explore the beach, access at low tide to cross the river that seperates wells from kennebunk. Protected birds species on the beach so pay attention to the signs.Winter time...snowshoe or ski the terrain!!There is so much to choose from, the best for kids to visit...lots of space to run and run!! You know what that means....zzzzzzzzzzzzzz at night!Lots of history, a museum in the renovated home. Lots to learn!!I would recommend a visit to Laudholm. we go frequently and never tire of the farmland. We always see new things and truly appreciated out little gem in Wells.

It is the best place to learn all kinds of thing like bird walking in between the tide hiking star gazing and listening to music in the barn. Plus everyone I meet there are os nice to me. Plus going off the grid and going solar

This is one of the top spots in Southern Maine for family outings. Lots of well-tended hiking trails lead you from wonderful hilltop vistas to a quiet ocean beach. There's also a learning center that introduces visitors to marine research being done at the on-site station. A huge old barn is fun to visit, though it's often housing a wedding or art auction. Must-see spot when you're anywhere near Wells, ME.

One of the most incredibly beautiful places in the USA. Walking trails through marsh and wildlife habitat. Romantic old farmhouse, boardwalk through marsh, walk to Wells Beach. Awesoe picnic area...

Besides being one of the preeminent research and education sites for estuary science, the folks at Laudholm host two annual craft fairs with top-notch crafts as well as a one-day Punkinfiddle event. Well worth the visit. We also enjoy walking the several miles of trails around the property, summer and winter, and checking out the geocaches hidden here and there. The property includes old farmland with a variety of buildings, including an indoor education center/gift store (low key). As you walk the trails away from the buildings, you can eventually end up at the ocean's edge. Quite a transformation. Great for kids and adults.

Great place to walk with family and explore the natural foliage and fauna. Beautiful and peaceful. Employees and volunteers can answer all questions.

Although we've purposefully searched out interesting natural areas, preserves, refuges, parks and forests as destinations for our travels around New England, we'd not been aware of the Laudholm Farm center in Wells. What a wonderful surprise! We were there on a cloudy, windy day and had the place mostly to ourselves. The trails are excellent, and there is good interpretation along the walks. The displays in the visitor center are engaging and tell the history of the farm well without being too verbose. We will definitely go back again in better weather, to explore more of the 7 miles of trails.

A great place to wander among the fields and forests before walking to the shore, this natural area features boardwalks and interpretation.

Old farm that has been transformed to walking trails through the woods, with one trail that puts you at the Drake Island beach. Quiet and well-kept.

Buildings and land are impressive. Enjoyed the walking paths and private beach on an earlier trip. Well kept inside and out. Great nature experience to just sit and enjoy the surroundings.

We spent a week in the area and walked all of these trails over that time. They were all absolutely amazing. Such a variety of flora and fauna and stunning views. A must if you are interested in the outdoors.

After a few days of crowded beaches and traffic a few hours here in the quiet solitude and shade of the forest, priceless. This place is like Alaska, even if you never go it feels good to know its there. This place and the neighboring Rachael Carson are the only remaining undeveloped coastline in the area.Bring bug spray (these are not regular mosquitos!!) and please pitch in with a donation!

Nice to see what rural Maine once looked like. Buildings well kept. Several walks through the grounds to choose from. Lovely walk down to the private beach. Take time to enjoy this.
