Warwick valley winery boasts a great little eatery where the coal fired pizza is divine. Limited winter hours, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. A must for pizza lovers...really you cannot stop eating! Salads and yummy sandwiches also. Cafeteria type seating , a couple of cozy fireplaces, you can purchase their wine on site from the shop/tasting room next door.
The winery is great for wine, food and entertainment. The only thing is it is too crowded! All year long!
We enjoyed Warwick Valley Winery. We went during the Shawangunk Wine Trail Xmas festival and the place was packed. Wine tasting was fun and we enjoyed the various wines. Food was good and they had live music, which was pretty good also. It was pretty cold so we did not get to see all the grounds, but will go back and explore more this spring. Worth a trip. Had a great time.
We've been going to Warwick Valley winery for several years now. We love the live music on weekends, the food and of course, the wine. We live in NYC and when we have cabin fever during the colder months, we pack a board game and load the kids (teens) into the car and drive up for the afternoon. The cafe serves excellent food at reasonable prices. One of our favorites is the spinach and goat cheese pizza. The wines vary and we usually do a tasting each time we go up. I like their whites much more than their reds, which I find to be thin and tart. They have excellent fruit liqueurs and if you like hard cider, then you can't beat Doc's. The apple and pear ciders are my favorite. They also have a gin distillery. I am not a gin drinker so I can't really say if it's good quality or not. All in all, it's one of my favorite places to relax on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. If you're planning to visit during the colder months, plan on arriving early (before the music starts) to get a table.
We visited in January, so really couldn't get the full vibe, but you can tell it must be great when it is warm. outdoor area set up for sitting outside. They also serve food, closed when we were there. Staff very pleasant and knowledgable, about wine and food. The wines are very good, as well as fruit liquors, and their Gin. Nice little shop with alot of products from them and others. really nice place to visit. Heard it does get really crowded, seems like the only game in town
Well worth the visit - we had a fabulous Riesling from this winery the evening before and went up to the winery to purchase it. While there, we did a wine tasting. Our bartender, Barb, was so knowledgeable about the offerings of the winery as well as the lovely town of Warwick. We left with more than the Riesling!
Myself and my boyfriend visited here with friends who live in Sleepy Hollow. We had visited a local Christmas tree farm that day and were in need of a refuel! Well this was a hidden treasure and definitely worth the drive.I must note I am a Vegan so was apprehensive of what this place had to offer.I had the stone fired pizza and requested my own toppings (no cheese, tomato sauce, mushroom, basil and garlic). It was absolutely delicious. One of the chefs even came out to my table to reassure me that the pizza was vegan and asked if it was ok. It made me love the place even more! We also did the wine trail tasting which included: Harvest Moon, Black Dirt Red, Docs Draft Hard Pumpkin Cider, and Bartlett Pear Liquor. Well I loved them all. I ended up buying a bottle of the Harvest Moon and the Black Dirt Red and bringing them all the way back to London! I love the idea of supporting local businesses and boy does it pay off.A must visit!
My boyfriend and I went here for a weeding during the month of October it was so beautiful and intimate. The food was also very good. We liked it so much we went back the next day to purchase some wine and to hang out. On the weekends they have live bands playing. Its a great place to come for some great wine, food and live music.
This was so unexpected, as my husband and I have visited Napa, Sonoma and Tuscany. To say we werent expecting much would be an understatement. Boy were we wrong! What an adorable place! The wines were good, the ciders excellent and the atmosphere was awesome. We went on a Sunday, had a wine tasting, and then got lunch at the cafe and sat outside (with heat lamps- it was a blustery November!). I had the cheese plate and bought the Pinot Gris wine. Both were great! My husband bought some Pumpkin cider and had the pulled pork sandwich- super tasty. We cant wait to come back with friends and spend an afternoon here. I would imagine during the summer months it would be even better, as you can sit outside on the patio. Really impressed with this place, cant wait to come back! A gem in the middle of nowhere!
We have been coming here for over 10 years and it gets better each year. Although we love the early years when we had the place to ourselves and drank good wine with the owner. Now it's grown to a huge proportion but has a lot to offer. The food has always been excellent. The ambiance is awesome. We love this place!!! You'll be additted after your first visit.
I have been to the winery and orchard several times over the last 6 years with my wife and this year we visited for the first time with our newborn daughter. We knew ahead of time that they were out of apples. Sounds crazy but we love the doc's hard cider and the atmosphere so we went anyway. Big mistake on Columbus weekend. The place was packed and with no one in the orchards even more so. We had picked up sandwiches ahead of time and good thing. There was an hour wait for food. Picked up some cider and ate on a blanket which was what we came for. The cider was great and we will definitely be back...just not on a holiday weekend.
Stopped by this winery while visiting the apple orchards in the area one Saturday. This was the busiest winery that I have ever seen. When you arrive you are charged a $5.00 parking fee as you enter. There was plenty of parking but it was a long walk back because there were so many cars. I was able to taste their wines, cider and cordials which they charge a fee of $5.00. I didnt care much for any of the wines but the hard cider and cordials were pretty good. I also got to take home my wine tasting glass which was a plus. They also have an apple orchard for picking but they had nothing left to pick. I wasn't able to do much else because it was soooo crowded. I wanted to purchase their pear cordial after the tasting but there were extremely long lines for everything. I personally didnt have the patience to stand in line so long. The next time I visit the orchards I plan to start earlier in the fall and this is the spot Id come to and spend the day. There was live music, all types of food for sale and you were able to have a picnic as a long as you could find a spot to claim.
Far be it from me to say that the WV Winery was cute, but it definitely does fit the bill as cute. I visited with my SO in early October 2014 on a Friday. We were looking for a day trip and so we chose this place. We came primarily for the wine tasting, which was $5 per person. It was slightly busy that day, so the folks manning the bar where the tasting was held seemed harried, but with a little patience they eventually got to us and presented us with their flight of their wines, ciders, and cordials. My SO and I instantly fell in love with their cordials and ciders, and picked up quite a few bottles of it. There was apple picking, as well, but we didn't go for that sine we had gone apple picking recently somewhere else. The cafe, open Fridays and the weekend, served an awesome complement to the drinks they had on sale. Don't expect anything in the way of burgers and fries; their food selection ran the gamut of cheese and meat appetizer plates, to pizza and sandwiches. We ate a meat and cheese appetizer plate and split a pizza, and we found both to be superb. We didn't get to see much else, sine the winery apparently holds events during the weekend, but it was still fairly crowded, though not to a point where we held up for a significant amount of time to buy food and drinks. WV winery was a worthwhile trip and everything from the drinks to the food was top notch. I may visit again during the weekend to get the full experience, but as far as I can see, the winery was a great destination.
Visited on Friday, October 3 in great sunny weather. Tasting is $5 for 5 wines and 1 after dinner licqour plus you get to keep the glass. Wonderful vartieals. After the tasting we purchased a bottle of Chardonnay & ordered the Fruit & Cheese + Cured Meats + Parmesean Fries - a fantastic luncheon sitting outside. Highly recommend this winery.
Beautiful grounds and scenery but too crowded. Lines for everything. Just got a bottle of really great chardonnay then got away from the mobs of people.
