Great guides, great scenery and lots of knowledge about the area and the whitewater. We felt lucky to have picked North Creek Rafting due to their experience and ability to personalize the trip for us. Highly recommended!
There are many rafting companies in this area. I read a few reviews on trip advisor and from those reviews chose this company and I wasn't disappointed. The guides were fantastic. Our particular guide Mike was very knowledgable and enthusiastic. Everything was well organised and professional and my husband and I had a great day
My wife, 2 teenage daughters and I went rafting with North Creek on 5th August and had a great fun day. We were the first raft on the river (well ahead of the dozens preparing to float off) which meant we only saw the other North Creek company raft for most of the day. Guide was fun and knowledgable with great scenary to entertain us on the quieter stretches - together with lots of swimming/floating opportunities for those that wanted it. A friendly fun company who provided a delicious pack lunch midway down the river.
Myself and six other girls heading out on the river a few weeks for a friends bachelorette party and my my what a day it was !!! We could not have asked for more :) The rafts were clean and modern , the best on the river as far as we were concerned, our guide Becky was so personable and full of interesting stories about the river, landscape and the state !! Even the lunch we received during our trip was exquisite !!! We all had the best day and are so glad we chose north creek rafting....
My wife and I had a fantastic day on the Hudson. Nate was great booking our excursion at the last minute. Our guide was experienced, knowledgeable, and deeply cared about the river and the area. His sense of humor and confidence put us all at ease. It was obvious once we were on the water that he put our safety first, but also that he was there to treat us to a great day and memorable experience. He knew when a laugh was required, and also when it was "quiet time" to let us "soak in" the beauty of the Hudson River Gorge! A fantastic day. We'll be going again!
We went on the rafting trip last week, and in spite of a thunderstorm in the middle of the trip, we could not have had a better experience. This company is small but the owners pay attention to the right details, and you can tell they care about your experience as well as their beloved Adirondacks. The best quality rafts (which believe me, you will appreciate), clean wetsuits, helmets and life preservers, a really delicious lunch (tomato mozzarella and pesto sandwiches never tasted so good and the homemade cookies were so good we stopped at the bakery that made them on the way home), and excellent and experienced guiding made for part of the wonderful day. The other part was spectacular scenery - unspoiled wilderness for most of the 17 miles - enough white water to keep us laughing, and enough calm water to help us just relax. Great stuff.
This is our 6th year of white water rafting and we usually head south but opted to go up and try out white water rafting on the Hudson. North Creek is certainly out in the sticks but the scenery on the Moose and Hudson Rivers is beautiful. The staff is friendly and expertly guide you. Have no fear if you're a beginner or experienced, you will have a great time!
From start to finish, North Creek Rafting was spectacular. Making the reservation online was easy and I called multiple times with questions and changes (one of our members cancelled at the last minute) and Nate was helpful every time. We had a group of seven women on a bachelorette party to go rafting for our first time. Two of us had gone before, but more than 10 years ago :) We almost missed the location because it looks like a house (which it is), but parked and got set right up. North Creek had all of the equipment we needed- wet shoes, a full wet suit (if you wanted it), a spray jacket (kind of like a waterproof windbreaker), helmet and life jacket. The equipment was clean and looked new. Becky did our safety training and was very thorough. We had a large group of people going that day (a Saturday) so there were three rafts going down. We took the 30 min drive up to drop in site with Nate and Greg. All three guides were amazing in their own ways. Becky ended up as our guide down the river which was perfect. When we got to the drop in site, there was SO MANY other rafting companies present! It was the first weekend in August and clearly the busiest time of their season. As we waited in line to get down to the water, I noticed that North Creek Rafting's equipment was in much better condition than the other companies. I'm sure their equipment was sufficient, but it felt good to know that we were with a company that cared about the details.Once we got in the water, the rafts really seemed to spread out and I never felt like there were too many people on the river. Our three rafts stayed together and ours was in the lead so we had a perfectly clear view of the river at all times. The trip was wonderful at all times. We started with some baby rapids that got us all prepared for what was to come. The options for voluntary swimming were great and I highly recommend jumping in for a bit. Floating on your back down the river while looking up at beautiful blue skies and the forest all around is absolutely perfect. We stopped halfway through for lunch and it downpoured. Thankfully the guides had brought extra dry gear which really helped since a few of us were still wet from our earlier swim. Lunch was DELICIOUS. They order it from a cafe (Cafe Sarah I think) and had a veggie wrap option as well as peanut butter, honey and granola wrap. The veggie was delicious and so were the chocolate chip cookies :) After the brief rain and chilliness, we were back on the water. We got the chance to spin through two different rapids which was awesome. Some other boats were waiting to surf (where you can stay in the water without moving downstream), but we opted not to do that. The trip was just challenging enough (I'm definitely still sore!), but there were enough breaks to relax and soak up the scenery.Becky was an amazing guide. We learned that her and Nate are married and were celebrating an anniversary soon. Since we were on a bachelorette getaway, we talked a lot about marriage and relationships. It was great to learn more about Becky and the amazing things her, Nate and North Creek Rafting have done during their eight years in business. As I mentioned, the guides were all fantastic and fun.Something that I didn't know and thank goodness someone mentioned it- you should tip your guide if it was a good trip! $5 to $10 per person is the norm. Once we got back to the company after the trip, they started to clean the equipment and we got to see photos from the trip. They work with a photographer that is set up about halfway down the river and takes pictures mid-rapid. I will definitely be purchasing some to commemorate such a great day.I highly recommend North Creek Rafting Company for your next white water rafting trip!!
My family has been rafting with Northcreek Rafting for 7 years. If you want a true rafting experience down the Hudson River then Northcreek Rafting should be your only choice. Northcreek is owned by a great couple. Nate and Becky care deeply about the river and the land around it. They are the original local rafting company and it is set right in Northcreek. They believe in local business development and work with local restaurants and hotels and bed and breakfast owners in the area. The live year round in Northcreek. They make your experience personal to you, which is something you won't get from the larger companies. Together they have been rafting the Hudson for 20 years. My kids and I can't wait to go see them every year. Thank you Becky and Nate you two are the best.
We had a great day's rafting with Greg as our guide. We had a raft of 9 including kids aged 9-14. Rapids and whitewater much better than previous experience in New Hampshire. Kids loved it, including the swimming, rock jumping and healthy lunch. Really friendly set up, would recommend without reservation.
My friends and I had booked through another rafting company, but our trip had fallen through at the last minute. Brian from North Creek Rafting Company suggested that we come with them (because they happened to have extra space) and we were so glad we did!! Brian was helpful and so nice, he made our experience extremely enjoyable. We will definitely be coming back!!
I wanted to thank North Creek Rafting so much for all of the accommodations they had made for my group on the rafting trip. It was so kind of them to take all the food allergies into consideration and for both Nate and his wife to have phoned over and ensured of what could and could not be eaten. Our guide Dave was absolutely phenomenal and not only made sure we had such a great time, but helped to make this experience something that will be memorable for a lifetime. I would not only strongly recommend North Creek Rafting, but we will be joining them again next summer for another adventure! We cannot wait!
It was everything we wanted for our rafting day trip! Our guide was very knowledgeable and funny. Highly recommended!!
3RD Year in a row visiting this great outfit. Did the Hudson River day trip on June 14th. There were nine of us on the Raft. Four first timers and five second and third timers. Because of the rain the river raised about 4ft over night and was roaring the moment we entered the river which made the journey down the river that more enjoyable lots of rapids and white water :). Mark was our guide and nothing less than expected, Another great guide at North Creek Rafting Company. Safety here is never overlooked and taken serious. Safety, Guides and Great times makes this a First rate outfit. Not to mention the great wraps they have for lunch during the trip. Keep up the Great Job Nate and Becky.
We did the Hudson River day trip May 24th with North Creek Rafting and had a tremendous experience. We had a poor experience with an in-town competitor (22 year old guides screwing around the whole time) and chose NCR based on other reviews here and it was all we hoped. Very clean equipment, great guides, and professionally run. Our guide was Frank (with Joe in the other boat) and as is often the case, the guide can make the trip and Frank was outstanding. Very in control of the boat, filled with facts and stories, and able to converse on topics from rafting the Grand Canyon to synthesizing artificial proteins to combat crystal growth (long story). We had pretty high, fast water and while there were some great wave hits and runs, we never felt unsafe or at risk. The lunch provided, as others have noted is great. When I heard veggie wrap, I was not excited but they were fan-freaking-tastic. We were on the water from about 10-3.Bring bug spray, the black flys were a headache, at least until you get moving. The only negative is the vid-pic options. The photographer stands in one location and snaps, in our case, 6 pix, all in the same rapid. From previous trips we had much more robust pic and vid options.Highly recommended! We wouldn't use anyone else.
