If you are gong to be in Lockport, you need to go here. Learn about the Erie Canal and all the things that were invented in Lockport that we use and see everyday.
I know that this little museum belongs to the Niagara County Historical Society but I think it can also stand alone. It is housed in a different building and is located a distance from the main museum complex. It is paid for separately ($6 per adult) and there is no combination deal. I used my Entertainment Book coupon. The Lockport Visitors' Center is also located in the lobby of the building. There is ample free parking. This museum is located near the Flight of Five section of the canal. There are canal related displays, photographs, and listening wands. The introductory video is cleverly done and has a "twist" that I've only seen once before (though I'm sure it must be done other places, too). The third floor houses the Penney Gallery and contains items from the collection of Dr. Charles Rand Penney. The Erie Canal Section of Lockport seems to be developing rapidly. I hope to go back in the spring when some of the businesses along the canal reopen for the season. Even though winter is on the way, there are things to see and do here.
