I received a gift certificate from my co-workers to give me a treat after having brain surgery a month ago. I walked in the door and a woman checked me, told me to go in the waiting room with a SOUR FACE, never offered to take my coat or tell me where to put it. That was ignorant. I enjoyed my services very much and loved the way they treated me(Jonathan and Tracy) When I checked out, mentioned that I may have left my bracelet upstairs and she jumped me, said I can't disturb a massage, I never asked her to that. She checked me out and never said a word to me and had a miserable look on her face. Didn't offer to help with the bracelet and never asked if I wanted to make another appt. I was shocked and turned off by this behavior. They destroyed my lovely spa experience :(. As I was leaving not one of them said have a nice day or one word to me. Four ladies were at the desk and looked right at me and didn't acknowledge me leaving. I think if one was a very rich and a regular there, then they may have been nice but they are all a bunch of ladies that must hate their job. It's a beautiful place, they need to hire friendly people to work at the front desk. Unfortunately, I may never go back. Too bad because Jonathan gives a wonderful massage and is such a polite nice man. The pedicure was lovely too!
My first visit to Kimberley's was the day the new facility opened. That was either 11 or 12 years ago. I have gone there monthly since and have never encountered the complaints others claim to have experienced. I have never had to wait more than 10 minutes for a service. The gals I have had for facials, massages, manicures and pedicures have been friendly and very efficient. The front desk staff are polite and make an excellent appearance. I am more than a bit confused by the number of negative comments. I will agree that it is not cheap but as I find "I get what I pay for".
Kimberly's is great! We take my mom here every Mother's Day, and we always have a great experience. They get you in on time, and are very professional. They always do a great job, and are very pleasant. One of the best in the area!
I've been going to Kimberley's for two years now and have never had a bad experience. Receptionists have always been pleasant, both waiting areas are immaculately clean; I've never had anything from the "coffee bar" but there's a wide array of teas as well as decaf/regular coffee, lemon water, muffins, chocolate and cookies available while you wait. If you have an issue, one time I was there and someone wasn't happy with their service, they were very apologetic to the women. Manicures can last for a week maximum, but some colours do chip more easily then others. It has nothing to do with the technician. Pedicures last forever, and they're very accommodating if you have any quirks or allergies. Kimberly's pricing is on par with other area salons, so those complaining about pricing really need to look around.
I recently received a gift certificate to Kimberley's and decided to spend it on a mother-daughter spa day for my mom and me. I was curious to see what the experience would be like after reading quite a few negative reviews on Yelp, TripAdvisor, and other similar websites. I had been to Kimberley's before but not in a long time.We made an appointment for two spa pedicures and two Kimberley manicures. We arrived about 15 minutes before the scheduled time and took the opportunity to enjoy the "living room" area, which had comfy chairs, magazines, and refreshments available (coffee, tea, lemon water, muffins, cookies). It really was very relaxing and was a great start to the experience.Next we were called in for our pedicures, which started with a paraffin hand treatment - you leave the "gloves" on throughout your pedicure to allow the paraffin to do its job. The pedicure included a sea salt rub and massage on your legs and feet, which was amazing and a nice touch. I felt that the sea salt rub and massage were long enough, unlike many other places where these services are supposedly included but feel very rushed. The pedicures came out great and seem to be holding up well.Manicures were next. My mom opted to upgrade to Shellac because she is a swimmer and says that the chlorine destroys traditional manicures. I stuck with the regular manicure. While my manicure came out beautifully and the technician spent a lot of time on it, it is two days later and it is noticeably chipped on several fingers. I understand that it's not gel or Shellac and isn't going to last weeks, but... two days? Really? I would expect more from such a high-end, pricey place. My mother's Shellac, on the other hand, is still in tact even after chlorine exposure. I know that this place hasn't always had the greatest reputation in the past, and I'm aware of some of the horror stories, but I have no complaints. All facilities were very clean, I found everyone to be professional and pleasant, and I enjoyed the services received.
liked this place when it was smaller. too big and impersonal. my massgae therapist smelled like she just got off a cigarette break. as massage is intimate and it takes place in small area, it was overwhelming. would never go again. too exspensive.
Personally I think this place, Jean Paul and Rumors have all gotten ridiculously expensive and greedy. I stopped going to these overpriced big salons and have found better values at smaller shops like Hairs 2 You on Wolf Rd in Colonie (Kristin is good for cut and color around $65-90) 729-2123
I HATE this place with a passion. They make you feel uncomfortable once you enter the establishment. I watched and lisentened to the owner be so intrusive and abrupt to a advertising sales person. Little does she realize these sales people can be the potential customers. As a business owner "bad word of mouth " is the worst type of advertising for a business. Then it was my turn to check in...... the staff are very rudy and come off as if they are better than you. I sure hope all the New competition at Rumors take all their business. Go anywhere but Kimberley's......
For my Birthday, I went to Kimberly's Day Spa with my sister. She booked a mani pedi and I booked a deep tissue massage. We arrived early, the nail tech greeted us warmly, took our coats and ushered my sister to get her nails done. I waited and watched three other clients greeted by their therapists warmly. after aprox 20 min a girl walks to the arch way and calls my name as if we were in a doctors office. I handed her my intake info and followed her upstairs. She never smiled, and did not seem happy to be there. This Therapist worked so deeply on me that she left bruises on my lower back and small finger bruises on my arms. Half way through the massage I wanted to get off the table, and really I should have but I tried to muscle through it. I am also a massage Therapist and have had many deep tissue massages in the past and have never been left with bruises. The next day I called and spoke with the Manager. He said that it could have been because it was my "time of the month and women bruise easy during that time" I informed him I had a hysterectomy 6yrs prior and I was pretty sure that was not the reason. Then it was medication I was on, I am not on any medication. Then after much back and forth on the mechanics of deep tissue massage he tells me that the Therapist lost her Best Friend to suicide ! This man was inappropriate on so many levels it was not even funny. I felt terrible for this girls loss, and then understood why she was so unhappy. I said to the Manager, she should not have been working when she had a death in her family, and his response was that it wasn't her family, it was her Best friend. At the conclusion of this terrible experience I received a phone message from this manager that he, Kimberly, and the therapist which I am not going to mention her name felt that it was all my fault because I am a massage therapist and I should have told her to stop, that I could call back to discuss it further but he probably would not be available. These people truly do not care about anything except getting your money. I do not recommend this establishment. The customer service was terrible and the massage was not good. The nail tech was sweet tho, I hope she can find someone better to work for.
You would think that with all the spas and service places popping up all over the area, that they would step up their game.I was very disappointed about some things.First ladies room lock on the door broken, which was broken last time I was there and hooks loose in ladies room. I would think a very easy fix. Two chairs in pedicure area not working. One service i was getting was eyebrows, first thing I noticed, the stains on the sheet on the bed. Also two workers talking about business being slow. Not what your customers want to hear.I think their lack of care on the facility and comments from employees made me feel like this was not a place i want to return to. I was going to get a few holiday gift certificates and decided against it. I will get them elsewhere.
For the prices they charge, you would think that you would be provided personal, professional service?. Not so; Walking into such a grand environment, you would think that the staff would be able to address your needs.....I arrived today to exchange a product that I purchased Monday. The staff member that greeted me was able to get the product that I wanted in exchange, however was not able to do the transaction in the register, nor was the other staff member, both stating that they were new. One of them went to get a staff that they said could complete the transaction,, if I was willing to wait, as she was dealing with another customer, who needed to schedule an appointment and apparently was not able to find a convenient time. It appeared that the staff member , she was to meet with for a service was not available and the appointment needed to be rescheduled. I waited a reasonable amount of time and the one staff that could help me was still busy. I asked and there was no one else in the building that could complete this transaction. I left and now am stuck with a productcannot use. I will never return to Kimberly's as their quality of professional service no longer exists. What business leaves two staff in the first area that a customer comes in contact with, that cannot perform basic transactions without staff supervision ????
Had been looking forward to a relaxing massage but didn't have the 20+ minutes extra in my day to wait on them. Not even an apology when I went up to the desk to say that my appointment time was already 15 minutes past without a word from them. I explained that I needed to get my daughter off the bus, and the delay would interfere with the timing. This was during the middle of the day on a weekday. I have never experienced anything like it at a spa.
Several years ago I used to go to Kimberley's for Manicure & Pedicure Services and I had no complaints. This year my husband wanted to purchase 'Heaven on Earth' for me for Mothers Day, so he went in to make appointment and pay in advance. You see, on their website, they advertise a 20% discount for the Military. Very generous, and we like to patronize businesses that recognize our Military. Shorter story, even though Kimberley's requires a credit card to hold the appointment, they refused to take payment in advance and allow my husband to use his military discount. ( They don't allow discount for gift certificates either). I found this bizarre being that they require a credit card to hold the appointment, and what better way to guarantee the payment of the services than cash in the hand? Regardless, he went ahead to schedule and just like a previous reviewer said, it took TWENTY minutes to schedule 3 services. 'Heaven on Earth' is a package they offer, so I do not understand the confusion and difficulty that caused my husband to wait twenty minutes to schedule it. Seems like a computer program could seamlessly do that. However, based on our experience & of those reviewing, the confusion at the front desk seems to have had an affect on the experience of the spa in general.
awesome service as I walked in without an appointment-Adele was very pleasant & personable- Staff was very friendly
I am at the end of my spring semester of nursing school and received a gift certificate to Kimberly's for Christmas so I decided to treat myself to a spa day. (I have been there several times before). When I called to schedule the appointment I had a new receptionist and it took her literally 18 minutes and 36 seconds of my time to put me in the book for the appointment. You have to use a credit card or gift certificate to reserve the appointment so I used my gift certificate. Unfortunately I lost the paper certificate over the weekend but I had the receipt for it so I figured that everything would be ok since I had proof. They would not take my receipt as proof and were very snobby about it. You would think that for such an upscale place that there would be some form of electronic reference. (The worst part is that the snobbiest person was a manager.... very poor service). Also after spending all of that time on the phone and making my appointment for first thing in the morning at 8:00, when I arrived they told me that my appointment was at 9. The lobby staff are enough to ruin your experience, but upstairs is absolutely wonderful. The technicians were amazing and the rooms were very serene.
