Great skiing, need some more snow, careful going down the front... lots of man-made snow simply freezes all night and day with no sun exposure at all!
Very small lift lines in ski season and the golf course is so pretty you don't care how well you play
We rode up and hiked around on the trails that were open. Took some cool pictures and played disc golf instead nearby.
Beautiful we'll groomed wide open trails. "Can't get here by accident" is the visitors motto. This makes it a less crowded mountain for skiing, boarding and all things ski resort.
A few of my friends and I came to Telluride for a bachelor weekend. One of the days were we there we took a snowbike lesson with Eco Adventures. It was so much fun. Snowbikes are like regular bikes, but instead of wheels, they have skis. You wear small skis on your feet, called snowblades, and they have ones that fit onto ski boots and snowboard boots, which was perfect for our mixed group. After several days of skiing the same runs, we wanted to change things up a bit, and this was a really fun new experience. The lesson took less than 2 hours and we were free to cruise the mountain for the rest of the day. During the lesson we learned how to control the bikes and how to take them on the lifts. It was extremely easy to learn, and our instructor Eric was super knowledgable about snowbiking and everything else Telluride related. After the lifts closed we went to the ticket office and got snowbike certification cards with our pictures on them. Now, if we go to other resorts that offer snowbiking, or come back to Telluride, we can skip the lesson and rent bikes. I definitely plan on snowbiking again on my next trip to Telluride. It was one of the most fun parts of our trip.
the course is spread out on the side of the mountain with considerable elevation changes. The layout is unusual, with the front nine having three par threes and three par fives. It is not particularly long and better players might consider playing from the back tees. My wife appreciated the fact the forward tees are really forward, making it an easy course for her to play.
The ultimate in mountain golf. This course, at almost 9,000 ft, is a challenge you will look forward to. Keep it straight and in the fairway and you will score, even on the 630 yd. par five. Two great ending holes, the 17th, 50 feet down from tee to green, and the long uphill 18th will make you glad you came.
Magnificent views which reminds one of Zermatt without the Matterhorn. Slopes were well groomed and the man-made snow more than compensated for the lack of natural snowfall. This ski valley is really made for the one-to-two week ski trip...given it does take some time to get there.
went to Telluride to ski last weekend - snow not that great but for a "groomer" like myself, it was fine - not too many folks there (maybe because of the less than optimal snow cover), plenty of open runs - will definitely ski there again - the little town of Telluride also has lots of places to eat, ranging from inexpensive to very expensive w/r/t pricing - great little getaway....even in summertime the town is downright beautiful!
Our group had a great time at Telluride. Early January is a great time to go as we arrived after the New Year's crowd had left and before the MLK weekend people arrived. There were noticeably more people skiing on the weekend but on weekdays we practically had the place to ourselves.NOTE: Telluride has one of the highest base elevations in North America (and perhaps anywhere) so it's very important to constantly hydrate. You'll notice the altitude change as soon as you start walking up even a small flight of stairs. Be aware of the potential for altitude sickness but hydrating frequently will help. There's a good mix of slope types at Telluride. One thing our group found helpful was that instead of the basic green/blue/black/double black slope signs, the resort actually breaks it down further into green/double green/blue/double blue/black/double black. This lets beginners know what they're in for and allows the intermediates to distinguish bump runs from regular runs. The snow was a bit thin while we were there but it was pretty early in the season and there was plenty of terrain open. I would have like to have tried some of the bowls but they were pretty much all closed. We had unseasonably cold weather during our stay and as the uppermost lifts are above treeline it got very cold when the wind whipped along the top of the ridge.I'd love to go back when there is more snow and I can ski more of the terrain.
Love the skiing. No Colorado resort can match the views of the San Juans. Mountain Village is one of the nicest in the state.
Amazing Skiing worth the price. Great Family vacation destination.
If you travel to Telluride a lot, you should consider joining Telluride Ski & Golf club. The service is AAA. The golf course is amazingly beautiful. There are so many activities to help you get connected with others who frequent Telluride as well. There's things for adults, kids & to do together as a family. The skiing is impeccable and there are never and lift lines. Well worth the $. You must take a tour!!!
