Quiet and interesting park with intricate boardwalks that welcome you to interesting sights and sounds of the Steamboat environment.. Only takes about 20 minutes to cruise the Boards but plenty of benches to sit and wonder about the wildlife that inhabits the area after dark. Once you go you will always make this a Friendly place to visit every time you are in Steamboat.
Great place to walk or go tubing. They have a new peaceful pagoda. Our dogs love walking along and taking a dip in the water during the warm summer months.
This is a quick and wonderful walk right off of highway 40. It's peaceful and different from anything else around. The raised boardwalk meanders through the wetlands along the river and has some very nice interpretive signs. I saw four deer just off of the parking lot (two adults and two very cute juveniles). Our GPS didn't quite get it right, however. The parking lot is just south of highway 40 at the Werner Road exit. Walk about a tenth of a mile east on the Yampa River Core Trail to get to the beginning of the boardwalk, which is at the Peace Pavilion, which is under construction. Well worth a few minutes.
The Rotary Park Boardwalk is situated just off the Core river Trail. It offers a diversity of both fauna and flora over its 1300 feet of raised boardwalk which is easily accessible. There is interpretive signage along the route which inform of the various habitats.
The local Rotary Club & the volunteers deserves some high compliments on this enjoyable nature walk they built! There is a small parking area, then a short walk along the river to the start of the boardwalk. It is a flat, easy walk with a few information boards on the local area, with some nice views of the river. You could spend 20 minutes, or more than an hour here, especially depending on what wildlife you might be lucky enough to see!
Take a stroll and it will show you parts of town and the edges that you may not of know existed. Very well put together for great enjoyment.
This is a boardwalk in what is sometimes a swampy area, with all natural vegetation. It wasn't swampy looking in Sept. but there are many native grasses, plants and trees and it's a nice relaxing walk. Not much shade; mostly sunny. It's nicely designed with overlook spots along the Yampa river and numerous informational signs about wildlife and plant life and history of the area. The short walk to get to the boardwalk is along the river and you might just see a fly fisherman. There is a bike trail nearby and benches and tables along the river. A new pavilion is being built before the boardwalk area.
You can access this directly from Mt Werner Road or take the scenic walk along the Yampa River from downtown, about a 4 mile walk. A wonderful gift from the Rotary Club to the people of Steamboat
This is a short walk and very interesting. The boardwalk extends over the wetlands and you can also see the floaters in the Yampa River. Good place to spend an hour and get a little exercise. Very easy walk. We enjoyed it.
We went there to bird watch and were not disappointed! We saw a lot of birds but my favorite was at an overlook where the waxwings were everywhere catching bugs over the water. We saw lots of yellow warblers and saw a house wren but heard their beautiful song a lot more than we saw them. We went about an hour before dusk mid summer.
This is a great place to stretch your legs and watch the wildlife. Easy walking for any age and lots of birds and wildlife to look at. I saw several deer and a cow moose and her calf.
Thanks! We like to agree that it's a very special place.
You just never know what wildlife will be in the area but it's a peaceful walk none the less. Thank you for the kind words.
You can definitely feel "one with nature" here. Thank you for visiting.
There's parking just adjacent to the park and the trails are accessible by all abilities. This is a great place year-round because of the changing scenery you mention. Thanks!
