prater ridge trail

This trail is excellent! We left from the campground at the base and hiked up the side of the ridge about a mile or so And hooked up with the Prater trail loop. Once on Prayer, the hike is flat with spectacular views. Like usual, bring water and snacks. It is a great place to picnic. Keep an eye on the sky as storms tend to quickly develop. We were about 2 miles from hte shortcut trail that would take us back to the trail descending to the campground when we saw several bursts of lightening. It is no joke hiking a rim trail when lightening is heading your way! Always keep that in mind and know what to do if it comes and you are up there! This is an easy hike and well worth it especially if you pack a good camera.
