I have made this hike in the past easy simple hike with great payoff once you get to the falls. This year 2014 trails were closed but if they reopen definately a hike to take

Gust02

Pretty canyon and area, but the Agnes Vaille Falls trail continues to be closed in late May 2014 because of the rock slide six months or longer earlier. Parking lot is chained off so that people don't pull in and start up the trail, despite the closure signs. From the road you can catch a glimpse of the Falls, which look stunning and like there is lots of water flowing this year. But sadly cannot hike the trail. Campground across the street also looks inviting. There is an outstanding wildlife preserve at the Love Meadow not far on the road, wherein we saw bighorn sheep, deer and prairie dogs--and became our alternative stop for the afternoon.

Our extended family of 27 has been hiking to the waterfall here every year for the past 10 years, and it is a tradition we will continue for as long as the trail is open

Sadly, closed due to a massive rock slide just below the falls. Please check with local authorities before heading out, to see when/if it will reopen.

I hiked the 1/2 mile to the falls with my dog in late September. It's a low point in the water flow so the falls weren't that impressive but it's a nice hike with a trail that's easy to follow. A good view of the Denver, South Park and Pacific line on the other side of the canyon. The plaque explaining the naming of the falls is worth the hike.

Save three hours and make sure you get all the way to the foot of the falls. Take time to turn around and savor the views. In dry weather the footing was fine except near the foot of the falls.

InfiniteRanch

Only 4 miles from the hot springs and only a mile round trip to the falls with several stopping points highlighting local history. Plenty of wild raspberries along the trail too.

Easy marked trails. Slightly steep but worth the trip, beautiful. Take the camera. Picture signs share history of area. Good size parking lot.Kids 6 and up usually can climb it.

Waterfalls have a definite allure as do hikes with valley views. This has both - but it isn't for the faint hearted. It may be only half a mile but it is at high altitude (9,000+ ft) over rough, rocky terrain. It took my son and I 25 minutes to ascend and my heart was pounding at 125 beats/minute when I arrived. One frequent visitor said the path had deteriorated with some parts requiring walking through underbrush and streams. My wife made it halfway and skipped the rest. The historic placards are worth reading but need to be refurbished.

This is must-see because it's beautiful and doable. Although, for those who may have some injuries or disabilities, keep in mind that you have some high steps and minor climbing in order to see the actual falls.

Short but sweet hike, but if you are not used to the altitude and spoiled by the "rugged" rating of the state parks in the Midwest, this is going to be a bit of a challenge. Still worth it to see the falls!

Fairly tough course up the mountain but the falls and the stream they create are every bit worth your effort. On the way down we encountered three Mountain Goats moving at a brisk pace through the lower section of the mountain. Got some great pictures of the animals and that topped off a good use of 90 minutes of our time.

First, the sign says ".5" mile--Not true, much furtherSecond, poorly marked trail.Third, TRUE a hard rocky climb. At least a 500 ft elevation climb.Only those who are in good physical condition should attempt.

Even though the Falls hike says .5 miles, it starts out to be a fairly easy hike but it does get tough as you near the falls, not a hike for people with stability problems.

Lovely short hike. So worth your time!! Lots of good views along the way. Don't forget your camera. Dirt road getting there but any car can make it.
