Great view of Denver and surrounding mountains, plus a nature center with knowledgable staff teaching about local wildlife and geology. The building is made of recycled materials and is an interesting study in sustainable design. Inside, there are several model landscapes with preserved animals in their natural setting. You can see the 2 table mountains (plateaus) and the Coors Brewery between them. that were formed buy volcanic ash millions of years ago. This county park also has children's programs and camps. Open Tuesday thru Sunday 10am til 4 pm.(closed Monday)
We drove up to lookout mountain just to kill some time. The views were amazing, though we didn't even get out of the car. I guess we aren't real interested in naturistic views, but it would be a great attraction for a nature lover!
Thanks for visiting our nature center. We have to agree that we make for a good "jumping off" point for visitors and community members. We hope you were able to see some of our remote wildlife camera photos that have captured numerous animals on film at our nature preserve! Thanks for visiting and please stop back again when you're back in town.
Thank you for your visit and kind words about our nature center. We're glad you stopped by and enjoyed all the nature center has to offer. We also offer free programs on a variety of topics (family-friendly included). Please stop by again sometime!
Thank you for visiting our nature center. You did find one of our hidden gems with that lookout, although we can't take all of the credit. You actually found Colorow Point Park, a Denver Mountain Park, that is situated right across from our parking lot. It does have excellent views, but no facilities. We agree the hike is worth it though. Stop back again!
Thank you for visiting our nature center and preserve. Aren't our staff and volunteers the best? We're so glad you were able to meet them and learn more about the world around you. Stop back sometime. We'd love to chat more!

We're glad to hear that you've been able to take advantage of the great weather that we've been experiencing lately! We hope your kids enjoyed the discovery room and sat in the birds nest with egg pillows. Kids can also observe and enjoy nature in the observation room with panoramic views. The wildlife diorama with our mountain lion, bear, mule deer, and other ponderosa pine critters is a favorite of many. We also hope you had a chance to see our wildlife camera monitor that is frequently updated with animals that have been sighted on Lookout Mountain! Please visit us again in the future. We'd be happy to show you around or give you the nature center scavenger hunt specifically designed for kids.

Thanks for visiting us! We love Golden and Colorado too. Please come back some time soon! As the seasons change, so do the sights and sounds.
Thank you for visiting our nature center Angela. We're sorry to hear that you missed stopping at some of the vistas up our beautiful mountain. The top of the mountain does offer several “lookouts” as its namesake would suggest. From our nature center, you can see through the trees with close to 360-degree views. Buffalo Bill’s Grave and Museum (located on Lookout Mountain Road) has spotting scopes and a viewing deck if you are hoping to see Denver and its surrounding cities. Our nature center has been designed to focus on the local plants and animals that you can find in this region of Colorado (the foothills ecosystem). We hope to achieve that through our interactive indoor exhibits as well as outdoor trails and preserve. Please stop back sometime to get the inside scoop on Colorado’s amazing offerings.
Thank you for visiting us! We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your time spent inside of our exhibit hall. We hope you visit us again soon. There are great trails near the visitor center that also focus on sustainability including our natural environment.
Thank you for visiting us at Lookout Mountain Nature Center. We're glad you enjoyed your time as you visited our exhibits and beautiful outdoors. We're very proud of our "green" nature center with its incorporation of many local, reused, recycled, low-impact, and healthier materials.
Thank you for your visit to Lookout Mountain Nature Center. We're glad one of our visitor center volunteers or staff was able to discuss our beautiful surroundings with you. Some days lend themselves to the views better than others. We also recommend visiting the Buffalo Bill Museum & Grave, near Lookout Mountain Nature Center. The Museum Observation Deck offers unparalleled views of the Rocky Mountain Front Range and the Great Plains. This area is open to the public free of charge.
