What an absolutely gorgeous house and view! We stopped into the Boettcher Mansion on our way to lookout mountain and we definitely do not regret it! We did a short tour of the grounds and mansion and learned a little bit about the history. Overall it was a great place for a beautiful historical pit stop.Unfortunately the nature center that it shares a parking lot with wasn't open so it was a shorter trip than we'd expected, but it was a great stop along the way and can't even imagine how gorgeous it would be for a wedding.

After touring the Buffaloe Bill Museum up on Lookout Mountain in Denver, found this gem! Initially, i thought it was a guided tour type historic home, but it is actually an event center where weddings and business parties are thrown. I was allowed to go through the house, on my own, and read the history of the house and it's owners. I spent almost 2 hours just reading the information, just because it was that interesting! If you are interested in the mining history of the area, then you can find quite a bit of info here. The great thing, i was not charged to walk through it. The lady at the front desk was very helpful in any questions I had. If you are really interested in the house, and ask questions, she will graciously give you a postcard of the house.

This is a wedding and event venue that I would choose in a second! Just a pleasant place to be...situated on top of Lookout Mountain in the pines....nature trails with great views. Would be a fabulous place for ANY kind of event/party.

The whole story of this man is very interesting, but the house is not that spectacular. It would probably be a great place for a wedding or family reunion or something like that. You are afforded some cool views from being on top the mountian, I can only imagine what an escape it would have been back in the day.

I have been up to the mansion 4 times and all the times I have only been able to look inside through the windows. I would really like to see the inside but they do a lot of fun stuff for kids around Halloween and other holidays so it is fun for younger kids.

Fascinating that a man would come to Manitou, bring his aristocratic mother, build a mansion and leave!

We visited in March, snow on the ground, we took a short walk through the mansion, the building was interesting but not too much to see....

I've been to several weddings here and they are always lovely. Good indoor and outdoor spaces.

Dark and not very interesting or interactive. Maybe we missed something, but I didn't see much to see, learn, or do.

Doing a Wedding, or need room for a large get together, this is a great location .

This was once a glorious home in the Arts and Crafts style. From the outside it looks Tudor, but the timbers are half-round logs. Unfortunately, it is not a house museum, there is not tour. The rooms are not decorated in a period style. This mansion is now used for weddings and other events. Most is not accessible and the remainder is offices. Definitely not worth a visit on it's own. If you are going to the small but good nature center next door, walk over and have a look.

We found this on a Sunday drive with the family. Unfortunately, the Boettcher mansion is only open Mon-Fri 8-4, so we couldn't go in. We were able to walk around and visit the Nature Center on the property. But the real reason to go is the views in every direction since this site provides great views out onto the range, Denver, the mountains to the north, west, and south. Make sure you head back before late afternoon on Sundays as that is when half the state is returning from weekend trips to the mountains...

Not far from Bill Cody's grave site on Lookout Mountain near Golden, Colorado, is this historic Boettcher Mansion. It was built as a summer home and hunting lodge by Charles Boettcher. He was born in Germany and came to America to work in a hardware store with his brother. He died at age 96. His grandaugher lived there in the 1960's and upon her death in 1972 she donated the estate to Jefferson County for public use.Be sure to check out the Jefferson County Nature Center near the house. It is county run and has a great children's area. There are pictures in the center from a motion sensitive camera of animals that visit - such has mountain lion, mule deer, elk, bob cat etc. We had a nice chat with an elderly lady who was a volunteer and talked about all the fund raising that went in to building this very nice facility. There are hiking trails - so plan on spending some time and enjoy this lovely area! Not far off the interest. Just follow the signs.
