First off, my disclaimer. I am NOT a beer drinker. An occasional lager or two but that's about it BUT I did like their lager and the Scotch Ale quite a lot! My hubby, the beer connoisieur in the family, loved their samplings, especially their stout! We really loved the fact that one of the employees took time to ask us our opinion and talk to us about their brews, quite at length. The tasting room is open and welcoming and love the fact that its right off the bike bath. Definitely a nice place to spend some time!
A great, casual spot to sample some local brews... Des Moines IPA is by far their best seller, but they have many others beers to sample... I enjoy their Double IPA as well as some of the lighter options like Weather Beacon Red and Farmer John.Bring your own food if you want! Or do what I do and make a dinner out an IPA and their pretzels.
If you are looking for great beer and a knowledgeable staff look no further. Confluence has an amazing all around selection and great atmosphere. It is centrally located in Des Moines and close to numerous restaurants. The tap room is not pretentious and is exactly what should be expected...laid back and a great atmosphere. They don't serve food, but carry in and delivery is welcomed!Try the flight to get started and work your way threw all the taps! :)
My wife and I came here for a party. The tap/serving room is decent sized with nice bathrooms. They allow you to bring your own food in as they don't serve food. The beers that I tried were all very good (they have root beer and some N/A as well).Parking kind of sucks if it is busy.
compared to other breweries in this area, this one provides a more unique atmosphere. There is a regular restaurant area or a more bar like atmosphere that opens up to the outdoors. You can also view the tap room. The food was very good and the serving staff seemed knowledgeable in the beers.this is a great place for meeting up with friends, a business lunch or a couples night out. Good value.
I wasn't too impressed by the beer. But it was okay. Right off a bike path near Gray's Lake...Flight was pricier than other places I have been recently. 3 for 5.00 or 4 for 6.50.However- they had a lot of options for growlers fills and they sell the half growlers (boston rounds). They also do pitchers which you don't see too often at a craft micro brewery. Quite a bit of seating and a shelf full of board games. No food or snacks that I saw.
I checked this place out with a couple friends on a Saturday afternoon and it was great. Well actually there were no tours that day but the taproom was still open for sampling. Plus they provided a few card/board games to help pass the time.Cheap local brew. Try a flight to sample a few.
If I'm riding by on the bike path and they are open I always stop - actually if I'm anywhere near the place I usually stop in...Nice selection of rotating beers, both lagers and ales. And the beer is good stuff - I'm a big fan. Deck and tap room are both great places to hang out, and in the evening they might have live music. Located just south of Grays Lake.
Have visited twice in 2 weeks. A wide variety of beers considering they have only been open for a short period of time. The pricing for the beer is very reasonable. They have growlers. You can tell they have a passion for beer. Just hope as they get more popular they don't loose this passion. The tasting room area is large and you see right into the brewery area where all the new beer is being born. Also, they have a deck off the back with picnic tables- I think just 4 tables.
In a market that is dominated by national chain "brewpub" style restaurants, Confluence Brewery is a delight. First, a phenomenal selection of seasonal and regular brews gives even the novice beer drinker something to get excited about. The knowledgeable and friendly owners and staff make drinking specialty beer an accessible experience for all. The Des Moines IPA is a crowd- pleaser every time we go, but the variety of beers cater to all tastes. The Taproom is basically a big, open area bar where visitors are invited to sit, drink and yes, even bring in their own food. As Confluence is not a restaurant, you are fre to bring in your favorite appetizer, meal or order food in. It is the perfect substitute for a boring night out at another corporate restaurant. If you are an out of towner, this is a treasure in Des Moines and a MUST SEE.
