This park offers something for everyone. Gardens, playgrounds with updated play equipment, a charming farm- theme animal park(Sibley Park Zoo), trails and paths to walk. One area of the park also has baseball fields which are heavily used in the summer. This is worth a visit if you are in town whether you have young children or not. It is a lovely place to walk around in the summer and also to get a nice view of the river.
Took grandkids and they loved feeding the animals, Safe and fun little playground and beautiful ponds and flower gardens
If you want a beautiful place in the Mankato area for pictures go to Sibley. We are extremely happy that we chose this place for our engagement photos. It is absolutely beautiful!
Beautiful grounds, clean restrooms, several unique jungle gyms, and lots of farm animals to see! Even an adult fitness outdoor gym area! Will definitely stop next time we pass through.
The kids and I traveled with my husband on a day work trip. I had lots planned that didn't include this park. I happened to come across it on my GPS. Do to the quality of this park we didn't go to do anything else that day. The equipment is in great condition and is unlike any of the parks we have gone to during travel. Fun barnyard theme. The zoo is accessible for your children to touch and feed the animals. There is also a Koi pond and the fish love to eat. I found this park to be a little jem!
The park itself is nice; part is by the river. Also ball fields and picnic areas. The zoo itself is minimal -- nothing exotic.Mostly barnyard animals in accessible pens.Good for very young kids.
Very, very nice place with wonderful play structures and exercise track for adults. Lovely garden and cute farm animals to visit with.
This is a great place to take your little kids to. They have quite a variety of friendly animals to look at: boars, guinea pings, all kinds of fowl, goats, camels, and even ponies you can pet. They provide food to give the animals at vending machines. They also have a unique play area where children can play, including a barn buggy and decorative life size cows where kids can stand on, besides the standard swings, slides, etc. The park also has lots of grassy area with picnic tables and grills where families can barbecue and family or friends picnics. A very lovely and peaceful place. This place has been there for many years, but it has only become what it's now in the last 2-3 years.
We love Sibley Park! Spacious, clean, cute and fun play area. Love the animals! Tons of space for kids to run, play ball etc.... Nice picnic areas too! Wonderful place to take the family.
I love the variety of human friendly animals who want to interact with visitors! The city is doing a great job on this park!
Don't expect and overr the top traditional zoo. This is a simple mom and pop operation and veru casual affair. During the winter and the holiday lights there are reindeer.
Sibley park zoo has come a long way from what it once was. The expansion has come along nicely and the new play area is so much fun.
The park itself is very pretty, along the Minnesota River bottom. A nice place to take kids and let them run. Zoo is quite small.
I occasionally go to Sibley Park with my girlfriend to see the animals. It's a clean park, the animals are well tempered, and there are wide walkways so waiting to get by a group is a rarity. They have a beautiful koi pond and a wide variety of cute animals (I highly recommend seeing the pot-bellied pigs). It is also connected to a beautiful park with areas for get-togethers, sports, and picnics. There are a few drawbacks however. The park restrooms do not provide soap which is especially bad considering the main point is petting farm animals. It can be a gamble for dates as there are usually screaming children running about with little to no adult supervision. Some of the animals need more care, such as the sheep needing to be sheared in hot weather. It is also impossible to find any staff or maintenance crew. It needs some work and is usually better for families, but is still worth a visit.
As a child of the 60's, I truly miss the zoo that was lost to flooding. Over the years it has gotten smaller & smaller. Now there are just a few farm animals, but the grounds are impecably kept and nice play equipment for young kids.
