So I'll preface this right out the gates that I'm not a wine expert by any means. However, my mother and father have a seasonal camper spot not too far from here and have grown to really enjoy visiting it. This last Fall, my mother invited us to do their grape stomp. We had a great time as did most people who were there. It was mostly female groups or couples, roughly 40+, but there was a good mix of people from 21+ as well. The wines are about what you'd expect from the area and the place itself is pretty nice. The staff was very friendly and everyone around seemed to be enjoying themselves. We had a cheese/cracker sampler that was very good and later had a pizza that we really enjoy.Overall, I wouldn't say it's a play worth a long trip to get to. But if you're in the area looking for something like this, it's definitely worth a visit!
Ho hum wines in a ho hum setting, nothing special nothing stands out, the best thing out of there is the chocolate infused dessert wine just as yummy to smell as it is to drink.
We visited Indian Island with friends and had a great time. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The winemaker does a fantastic job of crafting a wide variety of red and white wines ranging from dry to sweet from local cold-hardy grapes. There is even an impressive port. We have visited many local wineries around the Midwest and as far as quality of wine goes, this one is at the top. I highly recommend visiting Indian Island.
The grounds are beautiful, wonderful staff and tasty Marquette! Very casual....not stuffy! Not hard to get to at all.
The winery was easier to find with directions from their website. It was a casual place that was very comfortable. The wines were very good with the price less expensive than other winery's we have been to plus you keep the glass. Dave the bartender was great letting us try a couple wines again so we would be sure of the wine we like the best to buy. The evening we were there they had a gentleman on guitar playing requests which was great and we all sang along. It closed a little earlier than we would have liked since were having such a good time with all the people there. We will probably go back in the summer to see the grounds and the patio area they have.
This place was a little hard to find, we used my gps on my phone and it wasn't exactly right! This place isn't fancy but they do have some good wines to try. Really great varieties to choose from. It was only $5 for seven different wines and you get to keep the glass. Great little find fairly close to home!
Indian Island is a family run operation....not upscale but a place that may appeal to a wide variety of customers.Really enjoyed the 2012 Marquette...usually purchase whites here, the reds have not been great.Fun to watch the clouds move in the prairie wind on the right day...on a windy day it's just too much being outside.Very well kept, clean, polite staff. Would LOVE to see you get rid of the smelly plug-in air fresheners...takes away from the delicate nose of the wine.$5.00 tasting fee, you get to keep the logo glass.
Never acquired the taste for wine, want to, but am a beer man. Thank goodness, they have beer also. I did the $5 wine tasting with my wife and did discover a wine I could drink. The 6 meat pizza was very good. I did get confused on when I ordered our food, where to pick it up and we ordered a cheese and cracker appetizer basket which was given to us with our meal which contradicted the "appetizer" title. Had a two person band from Mankato that performed very well. My wife did enjoy the wine and the bottles were flowing to all the tabels surrounding us. Nice setting, fun night, good wine.
Located between Mankato, MN and Janesville, MN. The rural setting is relaxing and compliments the wine tasting experience. After the wine tasting, we purchased our favorite bottles of wine and sat outside - the warmth of a bonfire near our table and the sound of live harp music setting the mood. The food menu is limited, but very good (including elk & bison burgers and wild rice soup). It is a winery that our group would return to.
