Great way to get a little history of Washington's time in Princeton area.. allow 1 hr min. Nice grounds , easy to find, free admission (make a donation). Docent led tours are excellent. When done, head to amish market (5 min) for quick informal bite and pick up "to die for ribs"!
Just 7 minutes from Princeton, you can see the house where George Washington wrote his Farewell Orders in 1783. The first room is a recreated kitchen. However, the rest of the approx. 12 rooms are authentic. I was surprised at just how much I learned from this tour about life in Colonial times and about George Washington. The guide was very enthusiastic. This house is a little difficult to find, but worth the trip. The parking lot is just past the house. If you have extra time, there are gardens and hiking trails to the canal. The Rockingham Association did a very nice job with this facility. Top notch.
