We took our HS girls basketball team out in late July. We did the entire run and had a blast!! The guides were awesome!. Lots of huge rocks and fast water but we felt prepared and safe. The meal was great! The water was wonderful - the rapids were a thrill but we enjoyed jumping in in between rides as well. The view of the canyon was spectacular. We plan to do it again either this upcoming summer or next. The pics were a little disappointing but that was it.
I Floated with white water rafters and it was very expensive our guide was not very friendly and the water was so cold. My life jacket had a horrible odor. The canyon was nice but I would rather go to Jackson and do the real white water.
Took a group of 13 with 10 of them youth. It was a fabulous experience! Full gear and safety talk was reassuring. Guides are friendly, funny and great teachers about the geography, history, water and more. So fun and great staff all around.
Part of our group rafted while the others floated. All of us agreed this was one of the most awesome parts of our trip. If you forget your water shoes, they have some for rent for $5.00. Those floating get their feet wet, those rafting - prepare to get soaked! The pictures were not that great and we paid $19.95 for a USB drive with 19 pictures. Jen is awesome to work with and I would highly encourage everyone to go. Our 80 year olds had a great time! and so did the rest of us!!!
As the only group allowed to do whitewater rafting in the Wind River Canyon, these guys do not have to be as good as they are. The trip was a bit shorter than i would have liked but the river was high and fast with great III and IV whitewater. They cooked steak sandwiches for lunch! Our guide, Evo, knew her stuff and knew the geology and some history of the canyon. Great fun!
Our group of 24 ended up with couple injuries before our rafting trip so the staff was able to accommodate us by splitting us into rapids and float trips. The guides were all knowledgeable and helpful, the trips thrilling and beautiful.
My 70 year old sister and I dared the whitewater trip which had up to Class IV rapids. The guides are great, the trip extremely fun and the price reasonable. Be prepared to get really wet - wear wick clothing that will keep you warm. Water temp approximately 50 degrees - but a Blast!
My husband & I went on a lovely float trip with Wind River Canyo. We opted for the float trip instead of the white water, having never done a white water trip before. Our guide was wonderful, very helpful, informative, pointing out sites along the way. It was a very relaxing trip.
I've never been whitewater rafting before, but decided on a whim to end our vacation on an adventurous note. Whitewater rafting is one of those "bucket list" items that so many people HAVE, but never actually DO, so decided to do this since it was reasonably priced and fairly close to where we were staying in Riverton. Driving up the canyon to Thermopolis, I thought I was on a death sentance. Looking down on those rapids, I thought I could never do it. In other words, I was TERRIFIED. At the "shop", you sign in and then they take everyone out to the garage area to get fitted for helmets and life jackets. Bring your water shoes, but if you forget them or don't have them, they have some available for you. Once the life jackets are on, you get on a bus to head to the river. Everything was very well-organized and they divided everyone up into groups, as we had a 3 full boats. We did the full-day experience and I would advise you to do the same, EVEN IF you are scared. There was an 80+ year old woman in the group -- if she can do it, you can too! (If you are scared, you can ride in the midde and don't have to paddle). The upper falls have more of the class 4s but it goes really fast and if you sign up for upper falls only, I GUARANTEE you, you will be wishing you could've stayed on that boat. Lunch was excellent - fruit, chicken breast and steak sandwiches, chips and cookies! No bathrooms, so if you need to go, you'll have to do it wilderness-style. Paddling is FUN. You won't want to ride in the middle because that's just not as exciting. Trust me, I was TERRIFED of this from looking at the pictures, but once you're down in the water, you're too focused on paddling and having fun than realizing that from above, it looks like you're going to die!And riding the bull is the BEST part! You'll get soaked but man, you'll have a blast. I did it - I went from holding on for dear life at the start of the trip to riding the bull near the end. This is all class 3 and 4 rapids and there are a LOT of them (as opposed to other rafting trips in other rivers -- this is going from what other rafters in my boat were saying). The guides are all excellent and very entertaining. Overall, an EXCELLENT experience and I can't wait until next year to do it again! Again, do the FULL DAY!!
I took my two boys on our first whitewater rafting trip through the Wind River Canyon outside of Thermopolis, WY. It was an excellent trip. We did the lower Wind River trip which I believe is the most scenic. Whitewater ranged from 2 to 4. Our guide was extremely helpful and friendly. The boys got to "ride the bull" for most of the trip and jumped in a few times. We thoroughly enjoyed this trip. It was a great whitewater rafting experience.
Loved the river! so pretty! the shopping was great! The people were so nice. good trip! The hot springs were cool. would go again!
Whitewater rafting was on my bucketlst and the experience at Wind River Canyon certainly fulfilled it! It was fun, without being too scary! Loved it! Staff is great and really good at what they do (thank god!)
