I'm not a wine snob nor expert, but do enjoy going to this place. Far smaller than many of the more established places, they have solid wines. The wine club is a good deal and doesn't cost anything to join, and you get free wine tastings and discounts on the wine. We usually drive up from Austin on a nice day for a pick up vs. having it shipped.

Interesting facility and presentation. Small selection available for tasting and 3 of the 4 wines available were from grapes/juices brought in from elsewhere, although we were led to believe that eventually this will change to in house products. The wines were pleasant but not outstanding, but we did buy a bottle.

Not the best wines nor value for what you pay for tastings. Food wasn't great either. There are better wines at Grape creek and becker vineyards.

The Hilmy winery is the best winery on the wine road in Texas. The owner is very nice and approachable, with fine wines and two large dogs that make you feel at home. The wines are unique and very good and reasonably priced. the ground are beautiful with many animals and a rustic feel. This winery is a must for anyone visiting Fredericksburg. They have a fantastic approach to caring for their wines as they use Guinea fowl to tackle the pests on the vines and it is a working farm with roosters, chickens, goats, etc. Very laid back vibe with more generous pours on your tasting.

The wine tasting is more expensive than others on 290 trail. Also, the wine selection for tasting is also limited. There are only four wines included in the tasting and they are selected for you. Probably won't go back again.

we planned a birthday surprise wine tour with Magesty Wine Tours for a friend and these people rocked! they had a beautiful farm table set in the barrel room ready for our group...so charming. Ask about their upcoming chef prepared boutique dinners and food pairing events to showcase their fabulous wines. A perfect place for an event.

We celebrated our friend's birthday with a private dinner at the Hilmy Cellars. They offered a private tour and the meal and wines were incredible. This is a definite stop when in Fredericksburg, TX

Enjoyed the wine tasting and the guy was very knowledgeable . Nice outside covered patio, heaters, wine was delicious. They have a few working great pyrenees dogs there, so sweet and gentle. Loved this place.

Nice stop on our afternoon wine tour. The staff was very friendly and helpful. After tasting and purchasing wine, we stayed and enjoyed a bottle at sunset. Would definitely return!

My favorite vineyard! I just love the staff and the comfortable feel here. Plus their wine is excellent!!!

Nice stop on our day long winery tour but this is a new vineyard and winery and needs more work to be on par with other wineries in the area. There was construction supplies and equipment that detracted from the view of the vineyard. None the less, it was still worth the stop.

This new winery is a standout amongst many of the Fredericksburg area wineries. The staff is extremely friendly, and the wines are exceptional. There is a large tasting room, where you can taste 5 wines for $10, which is the going rate in the area. Being a small boutique winery, they do not have as large a selection as some of the more established, large production wineries. An outdoor shaded patio overlooks the vineyard, making for a relaxing afternoon. This is a must stop on the 290 wine trail.

We recently visited Hilmy Cellars for the first time on a long weekend in Fredericksburg. Some friends had previously recommended it to us. We had a wonderful time at this winery. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable and I enjoyed the wine tasting as well as a separate glass (full disclaimer: I am not a regular wine drinker, so my opinions on wine are limited). Being dog people, we loved petting the lounging Great Pyrenees that were inside on a break from their farm work. It was enjoyable being on a working farm and seeing the chickens and guineas roaming the winery as well. They have a nice, large covered patio that looks over some of their vineyard.

My friend and I visited Hilmy last weekend. One of the staff talked to us about each wine and then gave us recommendations for other wineries to visit in the area. They have misters on their patio so relaxing with a glass of wine is comfortable. They have dogs, and chickens roaming the place. The wine is delicious. All in all I highly recommend Hilmy.

We visited this business as they were part of the Chillin' and Chili Hwy. 290 event that was going on. Loved the huge entrance door and large covered area outside but that was it. We were not greeted when we came in so we went to the first open spot to ask about the event and tasting and the man was abrupt and not very welcoming. He told us we had to pay for tasting to take part and we could do that at the register. We tried to look at a wine list but he took it away from us to give to someone else who I assume had paid and he didn't want to waste the list on our viewing. We then went to the patio to check it out and saw the chili was out there so asked the man there what the deal was. He also stated, more politely, that you have to purchase the tasting and the last wine they serve with the chili. So we went back in to the hostess/greeter who was now waiting on a large group that just arrived. We decided a little to "uppity" attitude for us so we left. Since we weren't able to view the wines we don't know if we will return in the future or not. Also, they do not allow pets at this business as they have resident animals of different sorts already.
