george washington masonic museum / masonic lodge no 4

This museum displayed a Lodge that would have been used at the turn of the 19th century. Then going on the guided tour, it depicted the different sections of Masonry as well as Ladies organizations and youth organizations. As you continued to go higher, you saw more of Washington's life in the Lodge as well as a leader. The climax was the observation deck at the top which gave an excellent view of Arlington. Well worth the stop to learn more of how our first President lived and lead in the early years of our country.

I was passing through on my road trip this summer and made sure I stopped here to see what was up and I'm very glad that I did. In these halls you will fine a rich masonic history anywhere from exact items from lodge meetings that George Washington attended to paintings of George Washington with masonic meanings throughout and let's not forget the amazingly huge statue of the man that dominates the room in the main hall. The tour was interesting and the guide was very knowledgeable. I would take anyone there especially if they were brethren who have not been there yet. Probably the best masonic building in the USA

Each floor of the museum holds interesting Masonic history. This museum gives the wife of a Master Mason more insight into what our husbands do when they attend meetings. I found this building very informative. Plan to spend at least two hours to do justice to the museum. I have been three times and each time learn something new and have more understanding of the work of the different organization such as the Blue Lodge, Scottish Rite, Tall Cedars, etc. When I go I usually spend a half day there.

lots of history and lots of things to look at as far as collections of masonic books and items donated and preserved for the museum been her twice and still saw things I missed last time. Had a night time tour of the observation deck you could see 360 degrees

You can see the lodge on special occasions, but if you are a Mason, come to the Fredericksburg Museum. The Masons have loaned many items for long-term viewing, including the Gilbert Stuart painting of Washington, the bible used at his induction, several chairs including a Grand Master chair, and numerous aprons and ritual items. I have visited the Lodge on past several occasions so check the calendar to see when it might be open to the public.

Very impressive memorial with historic artifacts and lovely artwork and sculpture on display. The tour is highly recommended. The tour guide is very knowledgeable and will answer questions thoughtfully and thoroughly. Fantastic view of Washington from the top level.Absent from display is any reference to the Prince Hall masons, so I would not recommend this attraction to our African-American brothers.

This was a huge memorial to honor the memory of George Washington as a member of the Masonic Lodge, as well as a thorough history of the Masons in the United States. The building resembled the Greek Parthenon and was nine stories tall with an observation deck on top. It looks like it must have a great view of Washington DC but it was snowing on the day we visited and visibility was very poor. Placing the building on a hilltop gives it a very imposing presence and makes it visible for miles around. Buy the tour. Free admission limits you to the bottom floor. The tour takes you all the way to the top,

The GW Masonic Museum and Mount Vernon are not Fredericksburg but located in Alexandria which is about 40 miles north. Both are worth the trip! Be sure to check the website to catch a tour at the museum and allow 1.5 -2 hours. You could easily spend half a day at Mount Vernon.

Being að freemason, this stop was a must for me. I went with my father and brother, and we took the regular tour. The museum is amazing and the tour guide was really good. When you finish the tour, you go to the top of the monument,, and go out to the balcony and the view there is amazing. Higly recommended.

We stopped by the George Washington's Masonic Museum while they were digging for more artifacts. To actually see and walk where George's Washington's home once stood. The caretaker at the museum was very knowledgeable and I appreciate her expertise on George Washington's history.

Interesting because my daddy, his brothers and his father were all Masons. But the photo you have isn't the masonic Museum.
