holliday creek trails

We have walked most of the trail in sections and enjoyed it. You need to take water to drink with you because it gets really hot here.

New York has its Central Park (which I hope to experience one day); the Falls has a string of parks, like beads on a silver strand circling the city. Holliday Creek Trail is but one of three major stretches of the overall Wichita Falls Hike & Bike Trail system, now just over 18 miles of uninterrupted, paved pathway encircling the city. So long as they are not motorized, walkers of all power levels and wheelies of all types (yes, from Hotter 'N' Hell road racers to moms with strollers) have nearly two dozen paved miles to get out and enjoy the amenities offered by city parks as well as the natural ecosystems from the Big Wichita River to Holliday Creek to Lake Wichita.

The city leadership of Wichita Falls is doing well with the Federal windfall provided by the Air Force and Sheppard AFB. I wish I could have spent even more time there on the trails than I did. They should only get better as the city has more planned trails to connect.

You can go for miles, easy access - I park at the YMCA and jog to the trail system so I have a bathroom and place to change, but there are bathrooms in the parks you can use, and the trail is very nice, perfectly safe at almost any hour, lighted in most places, and not crowded, it goes along Holiday creek, so the scenery is tranquil, birds, squirrels, the city maintains it well and it has lots of nice trees along it.
